Title: tone pots

my tokai lp, with it's vhii & stormy m sounds great.the wiring is vintage stuff with cts pots and orange drop caps
                   which according to most is a bonus......however, the tone pots for both pups don't seem to make
                   any difference until they're rolled off to about 2-3 .so effectively my tone pots only work between 0
                   and 2-3(nearer 2 in fact).
                   the vol pots work great all the way from 10 - 0.
                   what's the diagnosis chaps ?

You have linear taper and not audio taper tone pots.

Replace with audio taper pots, job done  ;)
