Title: Fender Highway One Strat & Fender American Std 40Y Comemorative edition
Post by: With Full Distortion on November 15, 2010, 03:51:50 PM
Hellow Guys
How are yah!?!?!?
I Would like to know whats the differences between the NECK shape/Neck Profile  of these two guitars
i have a Fender American Standard strat comemorative edition of the 40 years of the stratocaster guitar.
The same guitar as on this pic http://www.instrumentosusados.com.br/pedido12.asp?var_Codigo=24256
and i would liek to iknow if the highway one has the SAME neck shape/profile.
Because i like the BIG headstock better than the normal sized one and i also preffer the 6 screws bridge.
SO... i would be willing to trade my guitar for that one... BUT ONLY if the neck is the same. i believe my guitar has the MOdern C shape but im not sure of that.
Can anyone clarify it for me?!?!!?
Hails and thanks
JP

The Highway One has the standard C shaped neck and the regular Fender 9.5" radius.  It does differ from regular Fender USA models in the fret size which is mahoosive on the Highway One.  I quite liked that but some may not.

The neck shape on the Highway One will be pretty similar but not identical.

I think they started calling the neck a "Modern C" shape in 2000, when they discontinued the American Standard Series and started the American Series, before that (I think) they were just calling it a C shape.

I had one of those 1994 40th anniversary Strats, and a couple of other mid-90s ones.  The newer Modern C shape seems a little more rounded to me, the '90s ones were a bit flatter on the back and sharper at the edges.  But the depth was about the same.

Thank you for the information guys.
Q: )

Philly.. so.. that 1994 40th anniversary has a Modern C Shape or a C shape?? and that 40th A is from 2000 or earlier?
i want to know which shape of neck i do have and what shape of neck i should expect out of the Highway One.
Do you know anyone in UK that would be interesting in a 1X Trade ?
Hails and thanks again

Yeah JP, the 40th Anniversary is a 1994.

I just found a 1995 Fender catalogue.  It doesn't actually name the neck shape, it just says "Neck: Maple"

But as I said, it's very similar to the Modern C shape, they just weren't calling it a Modern C.  If you get a Highway One you won't notice a big difference.
