Title: Wall Hangers
Post by: Dmoney on December 08, 2010, 05:44:47 PM
Hey,

So today I found out i'm moving house. back to south east london, where i feel more at home than in west london.

I plan on being in the new place quite a while.
while we have to keep the paint neutral, I was told we could whack up shelves and such to our hearts content as long as when it was time to leave, we made it all good again.

so. I'd quite like to stick my guitars on hangers.
current, I only own a Les Paul Custom, ES-333, and a Mex P-Bass.
I probably wouldn't hang the bass.
Point is... what do you use? the LPC is heavy... so it the 333 but not quite so heavy.

should I avoid any that are going to mess with the finishes on those guitars? if so, what are they?

For me, since I have four guitars. I plan to have three hangers and one stand. Because the hangers are there to hang them up and if needs be (that the normal guitar on the stand isn't needed, e.g. different tuning) then one goes up and one comes down and stays down.

But yeah, I'd use Hercules. It's scary at first. But they'll work, lol

good plan!
i have 2 stands. that means i won't need 3 hangers.

(in future i plan on getting an Agile les paul + VHII's)

I've used that one, still have it in fact. The hanger is ok and will hold a guitar, the bigger problem is always the wall. Make sure you use long enough screws and proper dowels.
I also tested mine over night with 10 kg of books before I trusted it enough to hold my guitars.

I second Hercules wall hangers.  I've got 5 of this model http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/hercules-gsp39wb-guitar-wall-mounting-hanger-with-autoswivel-yoke--32760 (http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/hercules-gsp39wb-guitar-wall-mounting-hanger-with-autoswivel-yoke--32760).  They're nice & sturdy, though I did have to use longer screws than came with them to anchor them in to the wall.

Yeah, I planned on using some serious screws.
the place im moving to is an old terrace. the walls are cracked and chipped in places. needs painting before i get in.
Probably needs some big screws to get through the old plaster.

hahah!

I doubt the missus would be into those.

this new place is turning into a small nightmare. at least im back in south east london.

we also found that what we though was a wooden fireplace surround, is actually WHITE MARBLE that has been painted over! and the place has all the original Victorian designed tiles. It should be beautiful but its a mess. gonna try and fix it up. once i get written approval!!!!!!!!

Make sure you take a load of photos before you do anything.

Those hangers are wicked.

Anyone know of the top of their heads if I can grab these down denmark street?
I'm going to have access to a cordless hammer drill for a couple of days so it's a great opportunity to get them and some light fittings up! (and fix some mains outlets)
