Hi guys,
I'm looking into replacing the stock pickups on my RG7321. At the minute I'm interested in the Aftermath Pickups having heard bulb's demo of them on YouTube.
I'm looking for a djenty tone, suitable for modern progressive metal, and wanted to pose a few questions.
Firstly, what do people suggest in terms of pickups?
Secondly, what do I need to look for in terms of wiring (i.e. 4 or braided 2)?

In terms of wiring, 4 Conductor is only necessary for coil cut, phase reversal, etc. Djent usually doesn't need too much of that but 4 conductor can become 2, 2 can't become 4 (unless you take the pup apart).
2 Conductor is just for standard wiring (LP-style 3-way) the braided shielded wire that Tim uses is reaaaaalllllyyyyy nice. You can get some decent combos too with a 5 way superswitch. Like for example, I have Neck, Neck Direct to Jack (slight boost), Middle, Bridge, Bridge Direct to Jack.
It all depends on what your looking for.

I'm not looking for a complicated setup, as I'm only going to be using a 3-way switch (Bridge, Middle, Neck)

I always get 4-conductor wiring. I only have a bridge pickup and volume control in my guitar, but if I end up selling any of my BKPs (now that I got an Aftermath, I have a miracle man and a black dog currently not in my one and only guitar!), they will be much easier to sell on. There's no difference to you when you install, as they come all ready for standard 2-conductor installation (the other two wires come pre-joined so you don't need to worry about them).
And yes, the aftermath or painkiller would be the two pickups you're looking at for Djent. The aftermath is the only one I've tried of these, but it's a fantastic pickup and I don't hesistate to recommend it to you.

After much deliberation, I've finally fitted some Aftermaths into my RG7321. Here's a quick sound clip: http://soundcloud.com/electric-phoenix/blueprints
Guitar amp is Guitar Rig 4, drums are Superior 2.2 with Metal Foundry.
