hey just curious about what to expect after getting an bridge Aftermath installed. I've read a lot of post all over so i figured I would call on the Aftermath guys here for the real scoop, good or bad.
1. Did you notice you had a gain/vol drop? And if so what exactly how did you compensate? I read somewhere someone described it as "neutering" his guitar lol.
2. How did you setup the pickup height in general compared to other pickups? Close/Avg/Far?
3. Any problems getting the high end to cut/bite?
-
1: No. I actually have trouble not clipping some high-Z inputs with my aftermathed guitars.
2: I set up all pickups pretty close, most of the time; mine are 2.5-3mm from the strings with the bridgewards poles a little higher.
3: No.

hey thanks MDV. When you say the poles are higher at the bridge do you mean you unscrew them to raise them further out of the actual pickup? What does that do exactly i've never messed with pole heights before
-
Yes, thats what I mean. I tiny bit higher only. Not more than 0.5mm, not even one full turn of the screw (or allen bolts in my cases). It puts a bit more top end and high mids in; just a whisp more to help get the pickups in a mix.

very interesting, cool

I finally pulled the trigger on an aftermath. I really like this pickup. And man I had no idea how much messing with the pole pieces changes the high end. It's really cool. And the pickup height really changes the character. I feel like I could tweak the settings for weeks. Lol.

Could you explain me the "messing with the pole pieces" fact? Thank you...i have an aftermath on a body in swamp ash.

Well, I'm sure some of the other experts on here could tell you how it works better then me, but basically if you unscrew the pole pieces which raises them out of the pickup it will enhance the high end more. Basically it will give the tone more bite. You don't have to raise them much, 1mm will have an effect.
