They would be going into an alder body guitar.

The Cold Sweat will be too bright in my opinion as it works better in mahogany but the Nailbomb should work fine. You don't give much else to go on I'm afraid.

People here will be super helpful, but there are a million threads here about these pick ups. You should tell more about your guitar, amp(s), and the kind of sound you are looking to get.

I like bright guitars into darker amps. I've used Dimarzio EVOs for years, so that bright. I use 5150s and Rectos. I want tight and bright, with tight low side bass, and good treble/mids.

Well, a Cold Sweat is certainly bright. You may want to look at a Rebel Yell as well in that case as that's a bright pickup that has great tone.

How would a CS sound in ash?

I play a cold sweat in an alder strat with a maple top, maple neck and pau ferro board. The guitar doesn't sound bright to my ears, but then again i keep my guitar in D standard- and the guitar is fairly heavy. It sounds very clear, balanced and cutting, but never shrill- To me its a bright pickup without all of the negatives you usually find with bright pickups. It never sounds thin or weak or too piercing. Its bright but still retains enough weight and thickness always. Great for covering Death and other technical bands that require tons of clarity, If you strum a chord, you can still hear the individual notes with a cold sweat, well at least I can, I imagine it varies alot. You may prefer the C bomb though if you want to play it safe. Or the Rebel Yell as stated before if you want lower output. Aftermath maybe as well, but I dont know much about that one.
