Title: Aftermath in a PRS
Post by: ras on December 28, 2010, 03:27:47 AM
So I have a CU 24 that I am thinking of sticking an aftermath into, has anyone else tried it in a mahogany based guitar yet?  I have a coldsweat in another CU24 and I know what that is like,  the clarity is amazing.  What should I expect in general from the Aftermath if I do go that route, other than the extreme clarity I know I already like?

More low end not much, more mids and a fair bit more snarl to the tone with the highs tamed a little

EDIT: that is just the difference i found when going from a Cold Sweat to the aftermath.

however it wasn't in your exact situation it was in a basswood guitar but i still reckon the actual pickup tonal differences will be the same. The woods will just give it its own little sound a bit.

I did however find the AM to sound quite different in my mahogany RGA to what it is in my basswood RGD it was a lot chunkier but still very balanced so i guess the CS would've had the same extra chunk in the RGA too

The aftermaths low end magnitude is very guitar-sensitive. It never gets to be a huge amount of low end, but its a lot more in a bassier guitar, more so than with most BKs I've used.

I have mine in an Ibanez J Custom, which is mahogany. Sounds great  :guitar4:
