Title: Mercy cover
Post by: tomjackson on December 29, 2010, 11:10:58 AM

Really good cover of the Duffy hit Mercy, this is how it should have sounded

This is the guy that's singing it, it's not the guy in the vid

I quite like the Duffy version (quite like). Will be checking this one out when I get home!

It's a good cover and the guy has a really cool voice (a bit like Sam Cooke) but the chorus doesn't work for me, doesn't move 'up'. I prefer the Duffy version, the mix of old & new sounds works better than trying to sound exactly like a record from the late '60s, IMO.

Just got round to watching it - good stuff and, in my opinion, better than the Duffy version.

Like this version, although Duffy's not bad either. We play that version in the band.

I think that's quite bad, actually. The vocals are fine, if not inspiring, but I think the band and the arrangement are mince. Has none of the smooth groove and vibe that the song needs. And then the mix kils it.
