Title: NAMM time!
Post by: Afghan Dave on January 13, 2011, 09:20:08 PM
As news is beginning to spread around the net about the launches has anything caught your eye?

Christopher Broderick dumping Ibanez and moving to Jackson is very interesting, mainly because he feels very badly treated by Ibanez taking his signature model ideas and putting them into non-signature products thereby cutting him out of his due percentage.

I was also intrigued by this fat necked and very different new Jackson Phil Collen model...

Even on the video you can tell that neck is absolutely humongous!

I'm finding the PRS Signature LTD strangely appealing...

Hmmm, I'm not crazy about the look of the pickups on that PRS.... I hope they're not planning to put strangely-shaped pickups on all models!

(Not that I'm planning to buy any more PRSes, so it's pretty irrelevant to me!!!   )

I think that particular PRS would look better with the trem option - it just seems to suit the "HSS" layout and five-way switch.

My thoughts exactly Phil - I might have to pop down to a dealer once they're in stock and try one versus my Swamp Ash Narrowfield...

A trem would indeed make all more elegant.

Hmm, somehow I start to get bored by the PRS shape. That is after >20 years craving for it. Still love my Mc Carty though.

I prefer the Mira shape to the regular (Custom) PRS shape, but mainly because it's smaller and more LP-Jr-like.

I also wish they hadn't semi-retired the Singlecut shape.  I'd like to see it with lots more pickup/control/bridge options, rather than just the "Les Paul copy" it's ended up as.

Just looking at the PRS site, I see they've done another "baby seal cull" on the range.  Goodbye Mira X and Starla X  :( .  And I still can't believe they axed the Custom 22.  The new "Pattern" neck shapes are confusing me too.

Head to the opticians first Dave. Those narrowfield pickups with the normal looking humbucker look minging.  :)

Cheap La Cabronita's though. Mmmmmmm. If they do a single pickup one I'll bite their arm off

As some might now 2011 celebrates Gibson Sg 50years. I'm hoping some commemorative models without being historic reissues tag priced.  :(

But the natural sg p 90 drives me crazy ! screams for some pig 90.

I'd like them better with wraparound bridges.

I agree with a wrap and block inlays and a neck binding it would kill. Lets see what gibson prepares to commemorate the sg 50 years.

Anybody excited or curious about Seymour Duncan's $1200 silver-wire cryogenically-aligned pickup sets (http://"http://www.seymourduncan.com/newproducts/zephyr-silver-pickups.php")? Anyone at all? No? ;)

I must say, the "technical summary" explaining the advantages of the new technology certainly makes all of the other products in their range sound like cheap, compromised pieces of cr@p overnight. Not sure that was what they were going for...

Gorgeous!!

Not my cup of tea. Black with gold hardware doesn't appeal to me. I had that already with the John Player Special-hype in the seventies/eighties.

I've been reading the threads about these over on the Duncan Forum and it's hilarious!

The guys from Duncan have always said that they won't do the whole 'boo-teek' thing like so may other manufacturers of pedals and pickups etc as it's not what they're about and then BAMM, a set of pickups for $1200

I think it's great that they've made a set of pickups just for people on TGP
