it is odd it goes
Dear Mum,
Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and got worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened.
Steve and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it was probably just food poisoning from the left-over chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster. He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file?
would kill me. A house cannot be made habitable in a day,
I have to go now. We are going to town to post our letters and buy some more beer and ammo. Don't worry about anything. We are fine and tonight it's my turn to sleep in the Scoutmaster's tent.
at once release him from the asylum and send him home.

Does NLP actually work or not?
Even if bits of it do work it seems over hyped, I mean if it is as powerful as I'm led to believe then marketing departments around the world are cr@p at using it.

I dont know. I doubt it though.

NLP is a concept - it can be almost like self hypnosis. To that extent it can be very effective. Keying positive memories to triggers, then calling them when needed.

Not too sure really. I've read The Game and some of the techniques used in that came across as pretty effective - not sure if that was the autor bigging himself up or not though.

I dont think a batch of strategies for enticing/decieving drunk women is what JDC is really asking about.
AFAIK its not that effective. I think derren brown says this in his book, and lots of the hype around it is from people overstating its use where in fact something different is going on or circumstances have been very higly optimised/subjects prepped, that sort of thing.
When poeple try and use it in person (I have seen this/been the 'subject' of attempts) its really just annoying.
When its used on yourself, its just telling yourself stuff. We all do that all time, no need to give it a flash name.

I don't need strategies, I go out drinking with a lesbian and secretly tried to snog more women than she does.. so I did and got mentally head $%ed in the process.

I agree. I had to attend a seminar on it once and basically the idea was that you had to associate a bad feeling with one colour spinning in one direction and good feeling with a different colour spinning the opposite way. You had to picture the bad colour, slow it down and move it away from yourself, then chnge the colour and rotation, speed it up and bring it closer. Just a fancy ass way of telling yourself to cheer up imo, which is as you say something we all do all the time.
