I'd love one of those, but have you seen the price?  £5695!!!  I'd rather have a used original Modern Eagle for £4k and a Custom Shop Tele!

The new "Studio" model will be around £2000ish I reckon, but won't have the rosewood neck.  Although it will come with a trem if required.

I fancy a Faded Blue Burst one with a trem...

I thought they would be on the more expensive side but over 5.5k its getting into the realms of plain silly.

The studio's do look very nice. At the moment I am gassing for either a studio or one of the custom 22 specials (with the middle single coil).

I am loving the new Black Gold finish as well its sort of a cross between the old tortoise shell and amber finishes.

aaaargh to many guitars to buy and to little cash

Indeed!

As a crazy thought, I wonder if I could ship my SAS Narrowfield to the PRS Tech Centre and have them route the guitar out and put a 57/08 in the bridge?

I could have the only Swamp Ash Special Narrowfield Studio in the world.....

That's a bloody expensive way of getting a poxy bit of routing done!

Given the price of PRS accessories and their (presumably-astronomical) Tech Centre charges, it'd probably be cheaper just to buy a Studio.

If you can get hold of the pickup I'll route the guitar for you with my trusty Black & Decker...  :P

You found a niche in the market.  :)

But indeed, who dares to take a guitar with this pricetag on stage?

One of those guitars where the pricetag is inlaid into the headstock in neon gold leaf, with a little speaker built in that screams "I was really fudging expensive, ok!?" whenever you hit a bum note. Just incase anyone doesn't realise how good you are/it is.

I've gigged my Modern Eagle (on the stand in pic 2) and my Pearly Gates LP which have similar price tags.  They're meant to be played!

I'm always afraid someone will steal such a guitar befor or after the show.

Virtually no one will ever know they're anything more than just another guitar at the majority of gigs.

Exactly!  Only geeks like me will work out it's a Pearly or Jimmy Page LP etc

This is all very true, but the kind of tw@ts who nick guitars at gigs probably nick them regardless, with absolutely no idea what they may be worth.

It's always a worry that someone might steal gear. I'm marginally comforted that should anyone steal my guitar, a) they'll find it quite difficult to sell on and b) I've got a fairly good chance of locating it, given that it's very obviously a custom, and I have all the build pics and e-mails from when it was commissioned.
But yeah it's always a worry.

I agree, I'm just saying it's no more likely to get knicked.

Just had some info re. the PRS Studio and it's only going to be available with a "free" 10-top at £2700!  :o

Ouch.  Too much for a regular production PRS?  I think so.

Is that the (likely) discounted price, or full RRP?

Just a quick note here. If you have an iPhone you can get a service from apple called mobile me. With it, you can track your iPhone to wherever it may be using gps. If while gigging with an expensive guitar, stash the iPhone in the case hidden somewhere. If the case gets nicked with the guitar, you can then track it online using gps. :D
I'm pretty sure the service is free if you have an iphone4.

Yeah, but iPhone is easily replaced on insurance. Your favourite guitar you've loved for years isn't.
