So i just installed my Ceramic Nailbomb set into my guitar... 1st BKP experience... and wow these rape all other pickups hard. Pretty awesome through and through, pretty much exactly what I wanted. Im looking at purchasing some other ones now, and was wondering how people thought some others sounded, using the ceramic nailbomb as a point of reference.
Im looking at the black dog set, put in to an ESP Horizon NT-ii (string thru, neck thru, very similar to my guitar with the Ceramic NB's in them but without a floyd). How would you compare them? I find the CNB's not exactly harsh or too aggressive, but having another set that was more toned down would be nice. The CNBs have gobs of output, more than I need, and maybe something less bright.
Is the difference between the CNB and alnico NB that big? i would get the Alnico version in a heartbeat if it was smoother, less output, and less high, but it would have to be a mild to moderate difference. I wouldn't want them if the difference was only negligible.
Finally, if I find the Ceramic Nailbomb to be approaching my limit for output and high end, would the painkiller be over the top? the difference would be the painkiller is going in an rr24 (alder wings, neck thru maple, OFR).
Thanks for any input on my jumble of questions!

the alnico nailbomb has a ton of output and high end too, although it's not as edgy as the ceramic
a holy diver would make a bigger difference
it's less hot, more mid heavy and a lot smoother on the top end
listen to the heavy clips on the new website and you will be able to notice the differences between those models

I agree entirely. The A-Bomb will give you what you're looking for but as something different, I'd look at the Holy Diver. All of the advantages of an A-Bomb but taken a little further in that direction. That bit smoother and that little bit sweeter. Ever since the new site was launched and I heard Nolly's clips, the Holy Diver has shot up in my estimation.
