I'll try to make this quick and painless since I know you probably get a load of these.
I'd like a very ballsy crunch in your face clear tone, in other words really tight. Yes I am a metal kiddie.
Something in the likes of this:

Specs:
Jackson Stars RR-J2SP (alder body, schaller FR)

And I use a Line 6 Toneport UX1 for tone, yes I know you will hate me for this but it's what I got and it works for my needs :)
I just think it's time to change out the EMG HZ-3 that's in my guitar, since I don't really get what I want with it. Already tried some Blackout AHB-2's and they sucked.
I will mainly be playing in D standard and Drop C if that has anything to say, and I use 11-54/11-50 strings.
Can someone please shed some light on my situation? Alnico or ceramic? Special "widths" since I have a FR? I'm almost completely new to this. Was looking at the Painkiller and Aftermath, seemed pretty cool, but if anyone have a better suggestion, go ahead, i'm all ears.
I can provide more information if it is needed.

It will be a naturally bright guitar so I'd say that should guide you. If it was a ceramic pickup I'd be looking at the Aftermath as it's the tightest pup that BKP do but it has a surprisingly warm and organic tone for all that. I've never really warmed to the Painkillers based on the clips I've heard. If it was an alnico pickup I'd say look at the Nailbomb. It has a really sweet tone with the alnico magnet, is very versatile and has the tightness you'd expect of a ceramic pup. The locking trem will mean you'll need 53mm spacing.

for the alexi laiho type tones it is the miracle man without a doubt in my opinion. I used to be a huge bodom fan and got some very close tones with it.
The aftermath could also work but i dont think the high end of the pickup would be right as its quite rolled off.
Also after having both and playing them daily ive come to the conclusion that the aftermath is tighter than the Miracle man but not by much.
However the miracle man has a lot more aggression if you dial it in right

Yep, I wouldn't argue with a Miracle Man at all :D

That's a beautiful guitar. I love how every metal guy instantly associates that model with Laiho. Everyone keeps telling me Miracle man, too. Tim said Miracle Man, everyone here says Miracle Man. I know the Aftermath looks cool and it's the new kid on the block, but I'm thinking MM is for us, dude. We have trems on V's(so it's already bass deficient) with woods leaning towards the high end. I think the MM combo will work better than Aftermath.

Yeah I love my guitar! It's quite rare because it's a Japan import and they stopped making it :) Everyone thinks it's an RR24 haha. I'd call it an unofficial Wildchild Jackson signature.
And thanks for the replies! I'll definitely look into the Miracle Man.
So i'll want 53mm spacing, braided 2 conducting (won't be messing around with coil split and the like, I prefer it simple), and long 1/2" leg? or short 1/4"? Again I don't really know what it is.
-
I would get the 4 conductor wire. Not because you might coil split, but if you ever come to sell the pickup (don't rule it out - I have a miracle man, black dog and now aftermath, and no need for one of the black dog and miracle man since the new pickup was released!), it'll be as flexible as possible for the new purchaser. 4 conductor pickups come as 2 conductor plus a pair of pre-connected and sheathed cables which you won't need to touch anyway so it's no difference to you when you install...
But yeah, MM. :)

Miracle Man

I only assume Alexi Laiho because of the clip more than the guitar!
-
Short-leags, 4 conducter. It'll come ready to go in series anyway.
-
i would probably suggest not a painkiller: i have an RR24, and the attack with my painkiller was almost over powering. i changed the pot to a 300k job and that tamed it so am i happy - but its not a 'ballsy' sound.
i reckon a miracle man would be just the ticket for what you want.

Ah, didn't click it, just read his description. It's what I thought of though.
