just bought one of these for messing about, 195€, the price of a good boutique pedal.now i'm a bit behind the curve
when it comes to gear and what's available these days but this little amp has astonished me.
i can't find a bad sound on it, lots of footswitchable options (with the fs 6, 60€ also in the bag), no wonder the range
has sold over a million.
freaking brilliant.

Mmmm - I've looked at one of these to replace the second amp at one of our workshop benches - (currently got a nasty small Laney HCM)
Thought the reviews all looked good - thanks for confirming it
If the clean channel is good and it has good distortion too - it would be a winner for what i want it for

it would be great for quick demo's of your guitars jonathan.it's the cleans and light crunch that have surprised me, normally the distortions on modelling amps are good at low vols .

I really miss my cube 30.
Low volume practice tones, distorted and clean, have been among the hardest for me to find. The cube 30 utterly ruled for it, but I sold it too hastily after I got my vox advt30xl, which is OK, but not as good as the cube by a long shot, in the long run. It also kills the peavey vypyr I have.
The only reason I didnt get another, is every time I have £150 to spend, I have something else I need to spend it on/put it toward.

Hmmm, I'm looking for something small and portable that has a looper.

I use a Cube 60 for all but large gigs (where I use Mesa DC5) and it continues to amaze me just how good it is! both clean and dirty, I can recommend these 100% as an inexpensive reliable workhorse.

Another 'Cube' fan here . :)
I do most of my practicing - and impromptu playing to people , on my much loved Micro-Cube. As I was most impressed with it, I managed to 'score' a Cube 60 for backup to the main Jazz rig.
For mellow Jazz, the Micro cube would be good enough to 'play out' with, in a small room. It's built like a tank ( as the Cubes are ) - and even merited me buying it's own carry case / cover. The batteries seem to last a long time too, I'm still on my first set many months later.
My favourite settings for Mellow Jazz on the Micro-cube being :
Amp : 'JC Clean' , Tone at 3 o'clock, Reverb at 3 0'clock, Gain at 9 'clock, Volume at 3 0'clock.
Great stuff ! :)

Give me any amp and I could make a thousand bad sounds.

My first amp (late seventies) was a Roland Cube 100 transistor, with orange tolex. Great workhorse, never died. Played it some times stereo with a Fender Princeton Reverb II, which was rated at 18 watts, but was as loud as the Cube 100. Still regret I sold the Roland. The new ones sound very decent for their price. Nevertheless, I recently bought a Fender Blues Junior to rehearse. I know it's a onetrickpony, but it has amazing cleans and vintage crunch tones. TS-9 in front and go.

i love fender amps and a model of one is just that. i'm a valve amp lover generally although i did have a jc 120 once
but it wasn't as good as the twin reverb i used to have.
that said, having played a bit with this xl which is insanely cheap for under a carpet(2ton) if i were to recommend
a gigging amp for someone short of money i'd have to tell them to look a it's big bro the xl 80.i bet there's not
a better all rounder under 500.

Be happy with the price/quality/options-rate nowadays. Lots of small amps sound way better then 30 years ago. The same goes for guitars. For the price of a Squier Classic Vibe you got just multiplex those days. Still have my Hondo II strat, which was a complete disaster (what did I know?...), had to replace everything.
