Title: Best gig bag to buy?
Post by: Twinfan on February 12, 2011, 08:28:06 AM
I seem to have sold all of my guitars with gig bags, and for popping to and from rehearsal with my Esquire a gig bag would be dead handy.

I've had a couple of £20-£25ers in the past, but are there any really top quality ones with super good padding, just in case I decide to take a PRS or Pearly in one?

Suggestions most welcome please  :D

I've got on of the Tribal Planet GX series case/bag.  No complaints about it at all.

Can't remember which one I have, but it's the one with the most padding.  My Eggle is in one, so I presume the PRS will fit.

I don't know from personal experience, but I remember these being touted as top quality gig bags over the years:

And there's not much wrong with the Ritter range if you don't mind a slightly garish look:

Anything with a set neck and a tilt-back headstock should be transported in a case.

Thomann has a very large selection in various price categories. I have had good experiences with their house brand gig bags.

I only trust my Tele in a gig bag - wouldn't be happy taking anything with an angled headstock in a gig back, you're asking for trouble.  Especially with such nice guitars as you have Dave.

That's great if you have a car, but in my case I gig bag with set necks all the time.

I like the Fusion Gigbags lately - especially the F1 and F2 series

I'm loving that F1 Jon - very nice quality.  Around £100 online, so I'll grab one after pay day I think!

That fusion bag looks more or less exactly like the one I've got.  Farily sure mine was about the £40 mark.

Hundred bangers for a gig bag?

Get a fifteen pound one with a Husker Du patch on it like a real musician! :lol:

Unlike real musicians I have decent gear to protect, so no thanks!  :lol:

The four different ranges all look similar but with very different levels of protection
Sounds like you've got an F3 there

F1= £100
F2= £70-85
F3=£40-50
F4=£25-30

Jonathan has shown me the Fusion bags a couple of times, really high quality stuff! Wouldn't hesitate to get one.

Mines made by Tribal Planet.  Can't remember which model, but it was the one that had the thickest protection.  Looks more or less exactly like those though.

Thanks again for the recommendation Jon.

After seeing nothing of any use at the Birmingham Guitar Show yesterday I ordered a Fusion F1 online this afternoon  :)

Quick update for the record!

The Fusion F1 arrived today, got it for £85 delivered which was a great deal!  Last one in stock at Sound Affect Music.  This is a top quality gig bag, loads of padding and pockets and a good sturdy feel.  I tested it out by taking Francine to rehearsal in it  :o

She survived intact and I had every confidence in the bag - totally recommended!
