My guitar is an esp ltd mh1000, looking to upgrade the pickups. Was thinking about emgs but have decided on bk's instead. Just wanted some feedback on which combo I should go for. My playing style is kinda like a mix of stuff like norma jean and underoath, mixed with misery signals and august burns red.

Welcome! I think you'd do well to check out a Nailbomb set
-
K ill look into them for sure then you think those would be the best combo for me? Should I get the ceramic in the bridge instead of the alnico? I was set on the ceramic but just need to make sure
-
In my Jackson soloist I have an Aftermath bridge/VHII neck (I had a Cold Sweat in but I like the VHII's bite) and it's wonderful for metal. I even swapped the same pickups... came stock with JB/59... weird.
-
Yeah its a pretty common combo it seems, idk which combo I'm going to go for yet. I was wondering how the miracle man combo would sound
-
I recommend the Ceramic Warpig, which I have in my Horizon (used to be JB/59). Nowadays I'm playing stuff like Mastadon, Fair To Midland and Tool, but I have a friend who's into the stuff you are and I have to admit when I let him use my guitar it worked perfectly. Maybe a Nailbomb or Cold Sweat in the neck.

Miracle Man bridge and Holy Diver neck would work well in my opinion but so would a Nailbomb. For the Nailbomb, I'd go ceramic if you want really brutal rhythm and alnico if you want sweeter leads but remember that the A-Bomb is surprisingly tight for an alnico pickup.
-
I thought about the ceramic warpig I just didn't want it to be too bassy. Hows the coldsweat in the neck?

Yep, I believe that the alnico Nailbomb set would be absolutely spot on for what you're aiming at. It's got the grindy and aggressive midrange voicing you're after, and will also be more than tight enough for anything you can throw at it.
-
Yeah thats what I think ill go with for sure then, thx for the help. One more question, how are the nailbomb's cleans?
-
Nailbomb cleans are excellent - with a classic voicing and alnico magnet they are rich and clear, as well as being open and dynamic. Very impressive stuff, especially considering the output.
-
Nice looks like that confirmed it for me, now which color I should go with since my guitar is green
-
i know what that guitar looks like, and i would give you 4 choices: black open-poled, white open-poled, chrome covers, or black covers. i think all of those options would be classy. feel free to go crazy tho; it's your guitar.
-
Burnt chrome would be classy.
-
Telerocker is right, burnt would go well with the abalone binding. Otherwise just plain chrome.

Love my Miracle Man's. They have a similar sort of thing as EMG's in a roundabout way, but they have all the good qualities and none of the bad qualities of EMG's.

Yeah I was thinking about burnt chrome actually, it would for sure be different and unique.

I just ordered my set of nailbombs in burnt chrome now just the wait
