Title: What BKP for a Gretsch 6120 - 1960 Nashville // Black dog or Crawler
Post by: MMMM on February 14, 2011, 10:03:25 PM
Hi everybodies,

It's on my "old" made in japan hollowbody guitar.
I have two Filtertron but I would like now to try two Black Dog or two Crawler.
I am not sure at all.

I like Blues sounds, Punk's 76 smell's  :D

Thanx in advance for your words

Welcome here. First, do hb's fit in this guitar? I mean, is it the same size. Secondly, I would choose an very open sounding hb, like Mules or Riff Raffs. The Black Dog has quite some mids, as has the Crawler, which is fat, round with a mellow topend. But maybe it is better too look at a p90 in humbuckersize like the Mississipi Queens. They are very dynamic and open sounding and do great in hollowbodies. Great for blues and punk. You'd can ask the BKP-team fro advice.

1st of all it's blasphemy.

2nd they don't fit.

3rd too hot, expect feedback.

There are alternatives. Dog ear P90's. With a spacer underneith they'll cover up the holes.

I know this is the BKP forum and I do love 'em but I'd go for a set of TV Jones Powertrons in your case. If it's a pre-fender model (no JT or JF before the serial number) get a new TV Jones wiring harness as well.

edit: nearly forgot. TV Jones also makes a filtertron sized P90 in, fits right in.
