I am really blown away by the tonedefinition in these pickups, even when you play with distortion/gain it sounds almost like if you where playing clean. Makes it harder for me to play because of the definition, but its worth it.
I heard the Painkiller is a bit more agressive, can't wait to find out.
I wonder how much they differ from these Cold Sweat pickups.
Maybe someone here can explain?

I just replaced my cold sweat with an aftermath, which is similar to the painkiller, but a bit less "hairy"
the bass response is faster and more "scratchy" on palm mutes
seems to have less bass, but the mids are much thicker and the high end is warmer
the painkiller has even more upper mids
they're even harder to play
listen to the new clips on the website
they are very helpful

You make these guitars? The 4 string bass on the Verdonk site looks amazing. I really love that grain. The Cold Sweat sounds nice in your clip for sure!

No, I didn't make these guitars, a friend of mine made them(he's a band member), his name is Ferdinand Verdonk.
The 4 string bass is indeed an amazing guitar and is nearly completed.
The building quality of these guitars are insane!
I also have a Verdonk guitar (not the one in the video) with a Seymour Duncan Blackout pickup, but i'm gonna change it to a Bareknuckle pickup because its such a big difference in tone.
I'm still deciding between the Cold Sweat, Painkiller or Nailbomb.

So you're suggesting the Aftermath pickups?
I've heard them in a 8 string guitar, but that's kinda hard to place because the guitar itself sounds different. Much more powerfull then a 6 string. I should probably listen a few more samples from the site :) who are indeed very helpful.

Id also be interested in this comparison. Ive been told aftermaths arent as clear as sweats. But sometimes I find the sweats not clear enough on the bass notes. Would he after math let the notes jump out better and more clear than sweats?

I would say the aftermath is an extremely punchy and well definied pickup. I have never had mine mud up on me at all. It has always stayed clear and very articulated.
If you search in the players section or BKP sound clips there is Adam Getgoods official sample (6 string guitar in Eb) and there are numerous others in the players section.

sweet. how would you say it is for leads in comparison to the sweats? stiffer in any way?

Well i changed within the same guitar between the CS & AM.
The instant differences i noticed was the bass was thicker and the midrange was a lot more aggressive and the treble wasnt as overbearing as the CS was in that particular guitar.
I wouldn't say it is stiffer per se but it is a very dry pickup.

I've listened to a lot of samples of the Aftermath and Nailbomb, I'm impressed by both of them, I even got a chance to play on a Painkiller. I'd choose the Cold Sweat over the Painkiller(the Painkiller is much more agressive).
I guess the Aftermath and Nailbomb are a little in between. So I think i'll go for one of them(or both 8)).

I think this could be due to the guitar difference. Both Tim & MDV both said the aftermaths bass response is very sensitive to the guitars woods that you put it in

well, my '73 les paul is bass heavy as $%&#, and so is my modded '73 marshall
the low end definitely got much leaner, not just "tighter" in the faster response/hardness/density sense
it sounds fatter than the sweat (in the same guitar) cause it has more output and a ton of midrange
I'm replacing it with a black dog now, but I'm already considering going back to the holy diver

i don't know... i was very curious about the AM being a less middy and more grindy pickup in the same ballpark as the PK, but the official samples failed to impress me. there's something "wrong" in its voice (of course i mean wrong for my tastes...)

i would say the official soundclip doesnt really sound anything like the AM in my experience. But thats probably due to the axefx usage which always sound pretty fake to me.
I'd definitely recommend trying one somehow if you get the chance

Well it appears that the CS neck is the right choice to complement the HD in the bridge for an ESP neck-thru (Mahg Sides and Maple Top) through an Engl Savage. Anyone disagree?

Or just arrange a BKP meet up :P that way you can try it for free
