Came today, photo doesn't do it justice, it's achingly beautiful in the flesh. It's a 1981 Springy Sound that's had a re-paint (nitro). The neck is stunning and general condition very good indeed for a 30yr old. Pickups aren't great, but I intended to put Bareknuckles in there anyway.

I was thinking "looks good".... then I scrolled across and saw the matching headstock.... and I thought "looks awesome!"

That's a really lovely guitar right there. Very nice indeed and I like the matching headstock - doesn't work for me in every colour but that one looks a beaut. Will it be Irish Tours, Mother's Milk, the 62 set? Please tell us, we all get excited by this kind of detail. :)
-
pretty pretty

I'm super-stoked. A genuine vintage guitar of custom shop quality for £425. I'm thinking Irish Tours and a nice brass trem block. Any suggestions on the latter would be appreciated.

That's just cracking - gorgeous!!
-
Awesome, my second favorite colour..... looks fabulous 8)
-
Love it :)
-
That is beautiful. Great price too. Did you try before buying?
Need a strat so bad.
-
I worked on a CAR version recently - they are cracking! It got all new hardware and quite a modern look, (not what i would have done for myself) but the new trem and tuners where definite improvements - a trem block will work wonders on that

I like sonic blue. The painted headstock makes it a looker. Very nice guitar. I have IT's in my strat and I love them.
-
I Love it. I have an old friend who has one in his home that one day I will get him to sell to me- his is not a very nice colour but the guitar itself is super. Yours however looks the business -great colour!

+1! :)
-
Very cool. Really well done on your find.
-
Did I try before buying? No Ebay.
Two no votes on the matching headstocks. Well last year at a local guitar store I saw a Fender Jaguar in red with a matching headstock and it gave me a semi so I'm mighty pleased to get one.
Is there anything better than a NGD that goes lottery? No pub is going to get me tonight.

That last picture is epic! The guitar is sexy all it needs is a tortoise shell pickguard & your done mate. Congrats on the guitar & beer choice :)
-
I have to admit that, in that colour, matching headstock does not seem so bad. In general I don't like it on my strats, but that one looks so good anyway I might even have put up with it myself!
What gets me, is that I tried these guitars in the early 80s, and I just couldn't see what the fuss was all about - I preferred my Squier. Otherwise I'd have owned one for the last 30 years!
-
Epic.
Always wanted a Tokai - and that strat looks AMAZING!
-
wow, that is gorgeous and a bargain at under £500

After listening to the clips for a very long time last night I think I'm going to go for Apaches. They're the pups that shouted Strat the loudest.

I have Apaches and love them BUT most people put them in maple boarded Strats. You might find you need something brighter to balance the rosewood. My two pence.
-
It looks great - I like the painted headstock. Apaches can work in Rosewood, though the 59 slab board or 63 curved board would be the more vintage correct. Not to add another to the mix, but Mothers Milks work great with rosewood boards.
-
This board is a veneer and the guitar is quite bright and light so fingers crossed for the Apaches.
-
Very very nice. Love the colour of that one :D
-
I have Apaches on a rosewood board Strat- sounds terrific.
-
Yeah 38th I kept listening to the official clips last night again and again and kept coming back to the slow blues with Apaches. That's what a Strat sounds like! I liked all the pickups, but as winds get hotter I feel you're increasingly hearing the sound of the pup and decreasingly the sound of the guitar.
-
Yeah, I've not tried my Apaches in a rosewood board strat but I do think they'll work well, especially if it's a bright sounding one.
I don't think you'll be disappointed, I wondered about Apaches for a couple of years, felt increasingly drawn to them. When I finally got some they did exactly what I was imagining - they are extremely "stratty", no other way to describe them! :D
-
I was gigging last night and we stuck in a med tempo bluesy song to break up a series of up tempo material. I used my Apache Strat neck pickup and whilst I use the tone a fair amount, last night it just sounded so damn good when I played a solo ( a combination of great acoustics and everything was feeling just right). I remember thinking that Strats just don't sound better than this- and I have had 4 or 5 years to get attuned to the Apaches but they still make me stop and appreciate the tone even now.
-
Just what I wanted to hear 38.
-
bumpin' this with some rampant matching headstock p0rnography.
huge eBay URL (http://cgi.ebay.com/10-FENDER-CS-CUSTOM-CLASSIC-STRATOCASTER-COPPER-RW-NK-/330533436659?pt=Guitar&hash=item4cf553fcf3)
