This is less to do with guitar tone and more to do with getting the structure of a new track down, but I've chucked up a track to soundcloud with my own poor bass playing on and synth drums also coded by me (so probably either unplayable or just rubbish!). The guitar was recorded directly on the PC through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 interface into Reaper, with Nick Crow's free 7170 amp sim and a few other bits and pieces (also freeware) in the chain. I can't get the amp sims even remotely as tight as my rig, but I'm not setting up my amp in the house. Just no.
So for this, the guitar chain is as follows:
Wez V Vociferator with aftermath bridge, 14-70 strings, 26.5-28" scale length -> Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 interface -> Reaper -> VTE audio vintage overdrive boost -> Nick Crow 7170 amp (preamp 3/10) -> Gate -> EQ (low pass cutoff 100Hz), Poulin LeCab with RedWire's free Marshall 1960 impulse.
The bass is a terrible old thing I got for 20 quid off a school mate about 15 years ago. It's torn my hand to shreds.
Real bass player will come up with much better bass lines in due course, and there are no vocals yet.
Hope you enjoy :)

Seriously: That is really cool...
I can "see" the tight thing that is hard to me understand what is... and I see why it works for some, like you...
with your low tune and distortion a warpig would not work, I guess... It's not exactly my thing, but it's very agressive!!!

This tune $%ing rocks.
Quality riffs, very well structured.

Cheers!
I'll update the top post, but here too is the link for MDV's mastered version of my mix.
In many ways this isn't an ideal scenario - the mix is very very rough and should be fixed up first, but I'm really happy with the results from this - thanks a lot, Mark!
