Title: advice needed: pedal board velcro
Post by: gwEm on February 27, 2011, 05:40:41 PM
what do people recommend for sticking on the bottom of pedals and a bit of wood to make a strong, reliable join? theres a bewildering array of velcro for sale on the bay. presumably something wide would be good? what are people using?

thanks!

also glue the velcro to the pedal-board wood, it often doesn't stick very well and the weight of the pedal will pull the whole thing away from the board.

thanks for the tips guys.

can't seem to find industrial velcro here in the UK, so I ordered heavy duty instead.

Take a look at this stuff http://www.bassplayer.com/article/godlyke-power-grip-pedalboard/July-2010/117187
I know you just bought velcro, so this is probably a bit late, but this stuff looks interesting... Was considering buying some last year, but laziness prevailed and I still don't have anything holding down my pedals.

Probably a bit late but go to Halfords and buy a roll of heavy duty Velcro on a roll. I can now only remove my pedals with a screwdriver to lever them off!

ha ha, sounds familiar - same here with the extra-strong velcro I bought.  it rips the other part off the pedal board when I remove pedals, thats why I recommended gluing down the side that sticks on the pedal board.

mate you should try 3M dual lock, its brilliant though a little more pricey than normal velcro. main benefit for me (besides its super sticky) is that there's no separate hook and loop strips, the strip you buy is all the same- you just cut two bits and they stick to each other.

the surface looks little like thousands of wee mushrooms :)
