Post by: choucas09 on February 27, 2011, 06:22:17 PM
I can't find a supplier in UK. Anybody know?

There are none unfortunately. I just bought a brass block for my Ibanez 7 string. Cost £35 including shipping and should be here in the next few days.

I plan on buying one myself too. I know only of Floydupgrades and KGC (killer guitar components).

Also there's this, if you want nothing to interfere to your sound chain: http://www.killerguitarcomponents.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=25&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=146&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

btw check this shiteee too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92QMZ8m8cAM

I found it today.

I bought mine from FloydUpgrades.com. Delivery doesn't take too long to get here actually, I was quite impressed!

Incidentally, I have just started my first video blog, and the first instalment is about these same products, so if you want to check it out, it's here:

Cheers!

How did delivery take?

I ordered mine with 1st class international mail and wasn't too sure how long it would take. Been about a week so far.

I'd say it was about a week, not too long at all considering how long some other items I've ordered from America have taken in the past.

Sometimes it can be speedy but others it can really drag

I've been waiting about 17 days now for a first class international package and know people who have had to wait close to 3 months.

Before and a little while after Christmas it was an absolute nightmare, but thankfully now all is back to normal. I guess it can depend on where in the U.S you are ordering from. I would presume something ordered in, say, L.A would take longer to get here than something ordered in N.Y. Plus, we don't know if they have mail strikes as often as we do over here, heh.

Oh, and to those who watched or subscribed to my blog, cheers!   :D

Nad thanks for the heads up on FloydU. I've just mailed them to see if their Strat bell brass Big Block will fit on my Tokai. Once again through their Strat soundclips I hear what a positive a fat brass block is. Just ordered a set of zinc Apaches and good pots yesterday so I'm hoping to squeeze every last drop out of Springy Sound and get an uber-strat.

Hey Nadz1lla, those vids are cool. It sounds like the block put the mids back in the guitar's tone that's thinned by the Floyd. Also it makes the sound balder(?) cutting some sizzle off... I think. Definitely improved... more alive I'd say.

No probs, it should add a nice bit of extra warmth to that classic strat sound I guess. Let us know how you get on!   :)

Absolutely! With the cheap, thin metal block that was there before, it kind of sucked a lot of bottom and mid out of the guitar's potential tone, and sounded really brittle (compared to now, anyway). That brass block definitely brings out more of the lower mids and bass for sure.

errrrr. I want one too. But no one makes them for Floyd Pros yet. Also why do floyd pro blocks only go down to 35 mm when originals go down to 32? I need a 32 errrr >:(

Throw Adam an email mate, he might well be in the middle of developing one if it's a fairly new trem system. He keeps quite up-to-date as I recall.

Well my brass block arrived on Monday. Turns out I bought the wrong one  :x  So I've sent it back for an exchange for the right one. Dammit!
