These are some of the most underrated guitarists imo:
Denis Azabagic (Have you heard him play la catedral)
Narciso Yepes (Who can as much clarity, punch, and definition? Listen to him play bourree bwv 996 and bwv 1000)
Dave Murray (Why does Adrian Smith get more attention than him? Murray is at least as good and I surprisingly never heard anything about him or Adrian Smith on this forum)
Mike Martin (Superb right hand technique)
Oli Herbert (Great solos such as the one in Two Weeks)
Brendan Small (Have you heard thunderhorse?)
Dino Cavares (You guys just don't like him because he's fat and Mexican. lol.)
Ray Toro (Everyone will probably disagree about this one, but I think he deserves more attention.)

I'm adding Catfish Keith. I've seen this guy a few times at Colne & Burnley R&B fests as well as on other occasions.
Amazing slide player, great sound, great vocalist.
-
Superb right hand technique
Afghan, calling Dr Afghan to the "waiting for the next line" joke ward
-
Brett Garsed
Vinnie Moore
To name a couple
-
Antti Kokko

I quite like Ryan Knight, he's the new lead for The Black Dahlia Murder and I have to say they've gone up a level in terms of those solos.
-
Brian Setzer. He can play so much more then just rockabilly.
Uli Roth, great guitarist, liked him much in The Scorpions, gave depth to this German-hardrockband.
-
I reckon Jimmy Page, Zakk Wylde and Slash are pretty underrated, but personally I think for good reason.
-
Brian Setzer is underrated by those who are not that familiar with his work. It's so much more than rockabilly. He also does blues, jazz, swing, classical and rock. He also has a great talent for writing and lots of theoretical knowledge.
He wrote the sheet music for every single instrument in that big band.
He also did soundtracks for tons of movies. Who didn't enjoy the soundtrack to The Mask?
Another very underestimated guitarist is Malcolm Young. We all know him as one of the best rhythm guitarists....(Clarkson pause)....in the world. But that doesn't mean that's all he can do. Have a listen to AC/DC's cover of Baby Please Don't Go.
I have always underrated The Edge. But after 'The History Of The Electric Guitar' and 'It Might Get Loud' I found new understanding and respect for the man.

Brad Paisley
Matt Schofield
Anysley Lister
Marc Ford
Audley Freed
Rich Robinson
John Lennon
Thomas Blug
I'm tempted t say John Mayer as I don't think he get's the credit for playing that he deserves

John Miles
Andy Latimer

Tom Morello - the guy is famous, but I think it's mostly because of his experimental guitar sound/noise creating talent. He's a brilliant guitarist as well.

+1 / Forgot RATM.
