Title: Which Pig to choose?

I've been looking to replace the pickups on my Schecter Loomis, which is Ash body, Maple neck and board (set neck),  26'5" scale and floyd rose, so as you may guess is a pretty bright guitar. It definetly has a very nice strat snap to it.

This is going to be my "all-metal" guitar, so I'm looking for the most brutal metal sound I can achieve and thus the Warpig is the most obvious option. My only concern now is which one will fit better in my guitar. I was initially interested on  the C-Pig, as it's much tighter and edgy, but I've also heard it has a "fizzy" top end that I fear will be too much on this specific guitar.

The A-Pig on the other hand is sweeter and looser and I'm pretty sure that I will like it as well but I'm still undecided on which to choose.

the c-pig does not have a fizzy top end. get the C-pig.

Agreed, I would never describe about the ceramic 'pig as fizzy in the slightest!

the c-pig is absolutely not fizzy... if i ever used that word (i think i did, that's why i'm pointing it out... :)) i meant that sort of chainsaw sound on pick attack that's typical of death metal... like having a built-in HM2, in some way... i can't think of anything more metal than the c-pig! ;)

What genre of metal?


If you're into playing Tech-Metal / Djent (as the 7 suggests), the Aftermath is... that... personified.

For brutal death metal, The C-Pig is ... that... personified.

Djent is a recent trend. 7 strings have been out there way, way longer.

I'm more into "regular" metal, think Nevermore or latest Machine Head stuff

i have the same guitar as you. depending on your piece of wood, my loomis is quite resonant. i have a black dog in the bridge and even tuned to G# it sounds nice. the loomis is a bright mother$%&#er but with a body thick enough to make low tunings work. i'm afraid to say that c-pig in ash might be too bright, but, the pig is a fat pickup in itself, from what i've heard, not tried, so a ceramic magnet might fix it all

have you asked tim? he seemed to answer questions i've never thought i had about guitar tone!
