This one has been on the cards for a while
It's an all mahogany Lion with a carved top (like a maple cap one would have)
It's a lot thinner than a full Les Paul (Philly Q would love this one)
I wanted to make a guitar that would have the tonal characteristics of a flying V (or SG) but in a neat compact Les Paul style shape. (I am a big flying V fan but I wanted it to be comfy to slouch on the couch with - hence this shape)

Bridge is a Tonepros nashville style Tunamatic
Tailpiece studs are the Tonepros split ones that clamp down on the tailpiece and give full contact - great for resonance
the tailpiece itself is a lightweight Aluminium one
Pickups are BKP Cold Sweats - which sound great in this - paired with 550k pots and oil and paper capacitors

Our all access neck joint is there as ever - total ease for high end fretting

You can see that the body is thinner than normal - it's a bit like PRS thickness, so its about 32mm at the edge and 46mm at the centre

This guitars features our new inlays that we will officially introduce on our "20th Anniversary Ltd Edition Lion" which will debut in a few months

You can see the inlays , the Earvana nut and the new inlaid Feline logo on the headstock - looks beautiful in Mother of Pearl

I don't normally go for LP shaped guitars but this one is a beauty and by being slimmer it eliminates my biggest gripe about LPs in general, i.e. the weight. Very very pretty guitar indeed.
-
That's a totally stunner! It looks so good, sleak and sexy. :D
-
Congrats Jonathan it's looks amazing
-
That is a beauty. Nice one Jonathan.
-
Neck heel is gorgeous. Really like that part. Overall very nice. Jealous.
-
Very nice Jon - looks superb!
-
Looks incredible!
-
Looks really nice. Must be quite satisfying being able to build guitars for yourself when you fancy one.

I'm glad i can't do that, otherwise i'd need to start hiring out industrial storage space :D
-
Wow, that's very nice indeed. It's tickled my GAS whiskers 100%.
-
I like that!

Bah, they've changed our internet setup at work and I can't see the photos! :x
Have to wait 8 hours until I get home.
-
AGH! I can't see them either...
Nice one Jonathan, I'm guessing that's one of the "wood-only" neck/bodies I handled a few months back. Looking forward to seeing the pics when I get home :D
-
Andy - it is indeed the one your tried out without any paint
And we didn't change the look much at all
Here is another photo I took today - was playing around with backlighting trying to see if I could add more ambience

Just gorgeous :D
-
Burst back too, delicious. If I was financially in the market for an LP I know where I'd be going and it wouldn't be Gibson Custom Shop. Love the heel.
-
sweet :D
-
It looks great, and I bet it plays like a dream
-
Real rock'n'roll. Plain and yet classy. Love the neckjoint.
-
Woof! She's a looker :D
Glad it came out so well.
-
Ah, now I can see it! :D
I love the colour, with just a bit of subtle bursting. It reminds me of the "antique violin" finish on old Ibanez Artists.
-
Very very cool!
-
Decided to use an image of this guitar in a forthcoming advert
Should be fun....

Beautiful! I really love that all access neck joint on your guitars, just perfect.

The more I look at this guitar the more I want to be the owner of a Lion one day. The only thing that I don't like on LP alikes is the neck profile and the flatter than Fender radius. Is there any reason why a Fender style V (or D) neck profile and a radius of say 9.5" wouldn't work on a LP? I can't think of any but I'm no expert on these matters.
If it were to work I would most definitely consider (when I have some money) going the custom route one day. Unfortunately for me the playability has always got in the way of how great the right LP can look.

there is no reason that we can't do a 9.5"radius and a neck profile that is more strat like
In fact my other personal Lion has a neck that is more like a strat (albeit with a 12" radius)
the nut width is 1 5/8" (42mm) and the neck feels more like a strat in many ways

Oh wow - I love that one! Just need some money now :x
-
The amber one looks superb.
-
The Lion supreme is the best looking one - IMO. if only I had money and it had a Fender type neck :x
-
Very nice. It looked nice before the finish was added and now it looks really tasty. One day I will have to get a lion too.
-
looks lovely Jonathan, you must be like the cat that got the cream
so how does the absence of the maple cap affect the tone? - I like the idea of a normal thickness LP without any maple cap.
-
Tone is a bit more open and hollow in the mids - the maple cap fleshes out those frequencies
Took another picture of the neck join with a new camera - pleased with the results

You're not helping my GAS :(
