Title: Stock Ibanez Pickups + line6 modelling isnt too bad....
Post by: Transcend on March 12, 2011, 05:31:42 PM

With my amp being out of action due to me waiting for new valves and my RGD only having stock pickups as im waiting for my (non bkp! blasphemy!!!) custom pickups to arrive i've been messing around with gearbox and trying to find a good tone.

After about 10 mins of tweaking i came up with this that will do until my amp is back in action

line6 is on the left and the original is panned to the right obviously

we've recorded our whole album with just a cheap ass Lin6 Pocket Pod (we made a preset on the computer, with just basic amp/speaker combo and that's it) one side is matts guitars with cheapo pickups, the other side is mine with BKs, so it works.. i dont want to use it forever, but for the first one it was adequate. i'm now looking into a dummy load for my laney head, so we'll be using that here on out.

the link is in my sig

I'll check it out.

And to be honest they do what they do to an acceptable level and are a very good way to get into recording. I used to use one for playing 90% of the time for a few years as i couldnt have loud amps in the places i was living

Hey Davey thats sounding good for a Pod. I haven't had a chance to give it a proper listen but from what i've heard there are some good riffs in there but i think it really needs some strong vocals to help it all gel together more.

the vocals are the next step.
right now these are just basic track, they need a proper mix (as right now, the tracks have just been panned apart and the song structure is there .. some need a minor tweak here and there, so the timings where a riff starts and ends are spot on)
we have to return the recording desk tomorrow, so the vocals will have to wait for a while.

the sound is pretty good, all things considered. i'm not stoked about it, but it's not like it's complete cr@p :)

i've used sansamp gear for the last 10 years. its got its limitations, but i still recommend it.

whatever gets you there really!
