Ok get ready people this is a bigggggg post.....
Well i've been browsing the forums considering buying a pick-up and every post i look at, all i see is "Tim will do that", "Thanks Tim", "Tim was right as usual" and so on and so forth. So i guess Tim is the person to ask.
I've seen "pig-90" in loads of posts as well and i can't find them on the site anywhere, not even in the shop which was annoying so could someone please tell me where the hell i can find a pig-90. Oh and also it's a cross between a warpig h/b and p-90 so is it in the shape of a humbucker or in the shape of a p-90??????
Next question
I've got a Gibson les paul melody maker with just one pick-up (a dogear p-90). Originally i thought i would get a BKP-92 but then i saw the Mississippi Queen's but once again i couldn't find any info about them other than in the shop so could someone tell me what exactly is the difference between the BKP-92 and a Mississippi Queen???? The other guitarist in my band is a Marshall junkie but i prefer higher gain amps (i have a crate at the moment) so which one (BKP-92 or MQ) would be better to cut through in a band with my other guitarist??? I want lots of low-end growl but with the p-90 top-end clarity
---- BKP92 or MQ?----
WHAT DO YOU THINK????

Well, I'm not Tim, but I can answer your questions somewhat. Here we go.
The Mississipi Queen is a P90 in the shape and size of a humbucker. So it doesn't sound different; it looks different and will fit where a humbucker fits in the guitar without routing. Since you have a P90 rout in your guitar you don't need a Mississipi Queen.
A Pig-90 is a P90 that's been overwound to produce a hotter P90. I'm not sure, but you could probably get it in the Mississipi Queen size as well as the regular P90, but, like I said, you don't need it in that size anyway.
As for you tonal quest, I'd say the Pig-90 will suit your needs well.

thanks dude. that's weird tho because in the shop the mississippi queens are in the p-90 section.? Anyway thanks for the info one last question- where the hell can i find a pig-90 i can't find one on the site anywhere at all.
thanks again.

Its not on the site as the shop and the site are about to be massively updated.
If you want it, you have to ask for it: give BKP a ring and discuss what you want and they will advise you.

ok thanks. so what you recommend BKP-92 or Pig-90

i'd actually recommend that you give tim a ring. he's very approachable and may even identify a better option for you once chatting for 5-10 mins... i know he did when i was in a real dilemma re my tele refit. i'd been swaying between the boss, the yardbird etc, etc. he actually suggested the country boy (which i hadn't considered) and that worked out to be exactly what i had been 'hearing' in my head once fitted.

Hi, I have a lot of BK P-90s (including a Pig-90 and 2 MQ's, plus 2 regular P-91's and a P-90 rewind!). THe Pig-90 has more bottom end than a regular P-90, it is not quite as raspy as a driven P-90. The MQ's are P-90's but in humbucker size covers and so won't work for you. THe only problem I had with the Pig-90 dogear, is that the metal cover is for an archtop not a junior, so I had to do a little routing to fit it (I put it is a DC Junior copy so I didn't mind the work). You can get it in a regular cover though.
If you like early Black Sabbath sounds (from the 1st album), then the Pig-90 is great. If you are looking for more of the Mountain or Neil Young sounds, then go with the P-91 or 92.

Check out the gallery for pics of the Pig90.

thanks guys. i just emailed tim and he said that to cut through the mix of a band (with my other guitarist using marshall amps) then the BKP-92 would be best. So now i'm even more undecided because i love early sabbath but i want to be clearly heard through the marshall.
Damn this is a tough decision. And it's even worse seeing as i only have one pick-up- if i had 2 i would just get one pig-90 and one BKP-92- simple!

This is a classic example of when not to go for an over the top output.....when you've got two guitars in the mix you really need seperation and not saturation.Hence my suggestion that the BKP92 will have plenty of power and also plenty of cut too.
