Title: restless and wild
Post by: gwEm on March 19, 2011, 03:00:15 PM
 :D

Went to see Germany's second best metal band with Jonathan last Thursday. It was a great fun show. I had a beer with my band just before the gig and managed to drag them along - they also really got into it, despite my singer earlier saying she thought Balls To The Wall was truly horrible.. she was soon singing along with us all :)

It was best gig I've been to for over 6 months, and definitely in my list of top gigs! Wall to wall classics.

Nice one.

What happens if you're not tall enough to see over the waves of hands holding phones in the air? Or does that only happen for the first song or so... (Not been to many gigs in the last few years, obviously!)

:)

these pictures were taken mid-set in fact. we were standing by the bar and had a fine view of the stage. The Garage seems well designed.

It was a freaking awesome gig
I last saw Accept 25 years ago back in 1986 (when they had DOKKEN as support) and they were outstanding, and all these years later , even with a change of singer they exceeded my memories of them.

The new singer fits them brilliantly and seems to have a voice that is one part Udo Dirksneider (Accepts original singer) and one part Jon Oliva (from Savatage)

The guitars sounded brilliant - so tight and right on the money
The playing was heavy but always melodic - Wolf Hoffman is my third favourite German guitarist behind Michael Schenker and Matthias Jabs (and to be fair he shares the same approach to melody)

Special mention goes out to Peter Baltes the bass player who showed how good a metal bass player can be, and how good a P Bass can sound.

Guitar, bass and drum solos were kept to a minimum and were done in an interplay that kept it interesting for the audience - like the guitar vs bass duel that broke out in one song

It was a great night out - just what the doctor ordered!

They played loads of old classic stuff from the early 80s as well as a few tracks from last years return to form : Blood of the Nations

Here is a taste of the new album
