Title: Rebel Yell 7: Red Seas Fire track (progressive metal)
Post by: Nolly on March 30, 2011, 10:13:36 AM
Hi Guys,

My band Red Seas Fire have been working on our debut release for what seems like forever, and while we're very close, unfortunately there are a few things preventing us from finishing it before this Summer (mainly the logistics of recording vocals). However, we decided to put out one of the tracks in instrumental form, which you can hear here:

www.redseasfire.co.uk

The track was recorded with my Dæmoness custom 7-string, using the bridge BKP Rebel Yell throughout. Guitar tracks were reamped by Eduardo Apolonia (http://www.myspace.com/eduardoapolonia (http://www.myspace.com/eduardoapolonia)) with a 5150III through Mills and Orange 4x12s.
Apart from Eduardo's excellent contributions, the track is entirely self produced, mixed and mastered.

Hope you enjoy!

As ever, Nolly, superb work! The guitar tone is really fat, while staying tight as a gnat's arsehole. Great stuff!

Thanks Roo!
JDC, Eduardo's studio is in Portugal, I was never there! However, the Mills is making up the bulk of the tone you're hearing, while the Orange is mainly supporting the lower midrange. Both are mic'd up with SM57s.

Sounds great - it's modern and tight but without being overprocessed or fake sounding.

I like the leadtone in this clip. Very open and airy with great attack. Great sound as always.

This is my favorite of the bits I've heard from you. That rhythm tone just BREATHES. Good stuff.

Nice work. In it's instrumental state, it reminds me of Zero Order Phase. But with way better tone of course.

Just curious... what type of vocals are you going for? Please don't say hardcore punk style screams coupled with American idol style choruses. It would be such a waste of good music. But hey don't listen to me!

Great production, I love how it doesn't sound too compressed.
