Title: Can't believe how clear the RiffRaff sounds ...
Post by: hunter on March 31, 2011, 10:25:30 AM

Put the black covered RiffRaff that I initially ordered for my SG (meanwhile has a MiracleMan) into the PRS McRosie. Amazing match! It sounds so clear, unbeievable, but still gives loads of DIRT when you DIG IN. A very dynamic pickup and I just love it in this guitar. Neck pickup is still a Duncan '59, need to think about what the good match would be.

I like that. Very nice clean tones and clear solotone. Bright, but in the right way.

Thanks. Yeah I feel it's got that Tele bite somehow. I wonder how a Tele with a RiffRaff in the bridge would sound ...

it sounds like it has loads of attack. What do you think personally?

Hmm, it feels pretty immediate when I play it, I think it has more attack when you play with a light touch and gets pretty fast when you dig in.

Cool man. im thinking of getting a new set of pickups. The cold sweats are the pickups i've tried with most picking attack so far. =)

Oh I guess I got you wrong there, I mean with "more" attack the same as "slow" attack. Like on a synthesizer, if you increase the attack, the sound will swell slowly. However I think when you say more attack, you mean fast attack, i.e. less attack time, right? I think the RiffRaff has a pretty short attack time, not unlike a CS in fact, but the RR is more lively and rich in the sustain phase, which can be good but also disturb if you play rather complex chords under high gain.

Sounds way fatter than I was expecting! I always found the RR a bit thin for my taste...

Bright I guess. Maybe a mahogany tele with a RiffRaff would be the dogs bollocks.

Sounds great dude, the Riff Raff is a killer pickup. You should pair it with a Mule  in the neck ;)

Thank you, always love your clips, too!

Mule would be great, initially I wanted a set of them for this guitar.
