So today I got a 37mm brass L block from floyd upgrades to replace the 37mm standard block on my charvel.
I made two recordings and stuck them in an mp3.
The recording were done in garageband, via my pod with everything bypassed.
recording level in GB at 70% and the channel level on my pod at noon. all fx and eg controls bypassed.
00:00 - 01:02 is the old trem. 37mm standard
01:03 - onwards in the Brass L Block.
(times may not be exact, but you can here a jump).
The old block recording was done with old ernie ball 10's.
the new block recording was done using new rotosound 10's (from a BKP pack!)
what do you think?
p.s. I mean what differences do you hear. I'm aware of how shocking my playing is in that clip!

You can hear the mids behaving differently with the Brass block. It also seems that chords have more 'depth' to them too.
I put a brass block on my 7 string and noticed that I got more clarity, tighter low end, chords sounded more balanced and much better sustain.

I hear the same thing I did in the Pro Guitar Shop clips where they did this - more hight mids, but overall crisper across the range of the guitar.

i thought the frt-x000 already had a brass block?

Its a bit biased really due to the newer strings on the brass block clips but i agree with all of the above.
hmm i wonder if they make them for the ibanez Edge trems

thanks for the replies. I hear it too but it seems more subtle on my recording than on others I've seen or heard.
I'm tempted to do a lot more to this charvel
