Howdy folks,
So, I have my Warpig and Sinners H / S / S installed - and bar checking the wiring for an annoying ground hum, they ROCK!
Now currently in a few minds to determine the tuning for the guitar - as I have my Fender in E/Eb for rock/blues - this is my Metal/Stoner/Doom machine - so was thinking C standard with 12-56 Slinkys.
But, I would like to ask current Alnico 'Pig owners what tuning they use and if the Warpig has a 'sweet spot' for low tunings? I'm currently mooching around anything from one step down (D G C F A D) one and a half steps (C# F# B E G# C#) or two steps down (C F Bb G C)
Certainly be interested to hear what other users have to say. Even with bog standard 10's a whole step down has a HELL of lot more life and chug-tastic feel than before.
Once I decide on tuning to keep - it's graph-tec nut time and I'm whipping up some proper clips.
Cheers,
-Riff

for me, most guitars sound and play best in Eb, with any good pickup
I like the extra growl of drop C or C# standard, but most guitars lose a lot of everything with that
but for a true doom sludgy tone you need that growl and the mudded up sound, so I would only bother with string tension and tuning stability
if you use low C that's too thick and tight, you end up losing some sustain and the bass gets too woofy
if it's not thick enough, then the tuning oscillates too much everytime you pick
12-56 should be fine for C standard

when I still had it, it sounded best in drop C and drop C#.

the only thing that i can say is that B is a bit too much... C should be fine. anyway pigs sound awesome in E, with a distinct downtuned flavour.

Warpig in an LP 08' std in B with 14-70s. Yeah it loses lots of definition, but it's fuzz laden doom.
Depends on exactly the sounds you're after, and the guitar it's in of course.

I use A-Pig 7s BEADGBe, 10 - 59 strings. They are a bit much, but my rig's pretty tight so they add some girth to the situation.
What amp are you using? And remember that the A-Pigs are great with the volume rolled back.
