Hi everyone,
First of all, glad to join the BK forum 8)
I own a PRS Tremonti SE (mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, 2 HB). I used to play rock/metal but play jazz for 5 years. I own an archtop Ibanez AF-105NT for traditionnal jazz sounds. I'm looking for a clean, open sound, that sounds good with complex chords, with good harmonics...and that can get nasty sometimes. So here are my questions :
1. Is it better to have a calibrated set of pickups, or is it interesting to get separate ones? I was wandering if a Manhattan on neck and a Mule on the bridge would be coherent... I'm not a fervent user of the middle pickup position, but I fear the 2 pickups to have too much different sounds (inconsistant within a tune...)
2. How far can get the Mule set in jazz? I have been advised to get a calibrated set of Mules, because they are quite versatile... Plus, I think they are more adapted for the PRS...
3. Does the Manhattan set make sense on a solidbody guitar? I have been very pleased with the soundclip, but hard to know the whole potential of this pickup in less than 30 secs...
Thanks for the answers. I wish you all the best. I about to be a BKP owner

i put a manhattan/mule combo in a mahogany solidbody and was very happy with the results.
