I play metal music and I'm looking for a neck pickup to compliment the Ceramic Nailbomb Bridge in a Les Paul. I've heard the nailbomb is a really nice pickup and it suits perfectly with the Nailbomb bridge. But Tim has also told me the Cold Sweat neck is also a great pairing. Even though I play metalcore style music, I'm looking for a neck pickup that delivers a Petrucci-esque tone thats great at sweep picking (which the Col Sweat is meant to be good at) I just wondered if anyone has any experience with these 2 pickups and could give me some pointers: Pro/Cons, Tones, etc.

The Cold Sweat-neckup is highly regarded here on the forum and used in many combinations with ceramic bridge-pu's like the C-Bomb and the Miracle Man. You can't go wrong with the CS-neck.

The Cold Sweat neck is the go-to for the Petrucci style tubular neck pickup sound. The Nailbomb is more like a hot-rodded PAF voicing - brighter, with a hollow mid and a more percussive attack.

I have today received my new CS neck, I will be very interested to hear the difference to my NB neck, as I don't find the NB to be hollow in the mid at all!

Let us know when you've fitted them and have had a good play around with them.

Will do!

OK, after hours of comparisons I can say only this, they are both brilliant pickups and either would do the job for you, if I was to choose one I guess the CS would get the nod for your needs.

Fine, and how do they differ?
Thanks, Stephan

The Nailbomb has a little more power has a woody sound to it, were as the CS has this fluid like chime, a little more suited to sweeping, great pickups, buy both!

Thanks a lot!
The reason I asked was that I have the CS neck in a Floyd equipped 24 fret guitar. It sounds good but it is a bit thin there so the NB neck may be a better match.
Cheers Stephan
