All My freinds think I'm Absolutely nuts. Mostly because in order to afford this I also have to build a Patio to put it under and pave the area (which is now garden bed). A total of about $20- 25,000 project.
Any way I think its cool... you can buy an optional extra rowing machine that goes in it
-
:D I`d love to have a Spa !!
unfortunatley i live in a one bedroom flat :(
:D 8)
-
A rowing machine in a spa?, that is nuts...
If you want it and you can afford it why not?
-
:o think of the guitar gear you could buy with that though! WHY would anyone want a Spa when they could have all the guitars they wanted?
-
if you already own a nice car, a nice house, and all the guitars, amps, fx and pickups you could ever want, and have bought a certain dave_mc all the gear he wants, go for it.
-
Go go go! It'll really impress people that go to your house.
-
Bah. Waste of money! :P If you wanna get wet take a shower. Then buy more guitar gear.
My wife wants an outdoor hot tub. She'll have to save up.
-
Cant you just have a tin of beans and then take a warm bath.
-
I've just brought a £175,000 power attenuator. It's a house in Northumberland with 3 acres of land a 2ft thick stone walls. :)
-
I know I'd be impressed by a spa, but why the hell are you asking Bareknucklers for property advice? Tool! (No offence.)

Isn't this what the off topic section's for?

hahahah!
I'd rather get guitar stuff with that amount of money though..
-
dude - what about a soundproof room?? screw the hottub...
-
Asking guitarists for financial advice is like asking vegetarians which steak house they go to.
-
I'm obviously in the wrong job! what is it you do again?

Who you asking?

For the record. I'm a motorcycle salesman.
I have a nice house... Its no mansion but I can accidentally leave my wallet in my car and have no fear it'll be gone in the morning. Its an OK area and I've got enough space for my 40 x40 foot workshop, plenty of lawn and space for my kids (yet unborn/unconcieved  ) to grow up.
I have a ford focus. Its 2 years old in Feb and I'll own it next Feb. Cars over here tend to last about 10-15 years before really needing major work. That I noticed in my recent trip to the UK is a big defference between there and OZ. 20 year old cars are common place here.
As far as gear goes. Well thats a never ending story that will continue for the rest of my life. Thats why they call it a "hobby"
Besides It's this or I buy a Nissan 180SX ex-drift car for a toy for a while.
I'm really light on for motivation to play at the moment. A mate of mine wants to start doing original stuff. Which doesnt bother me but all I want to do is gig, covers are the easiest way to get that happening. Thats my small rockstar dream.... It seems a little distant at the moment.

anyway, if you want the spa (and can afford it ;) ), buy it!

A house in Northumberland would be great!! now I'm envious

That's it -- I need to move to Oz! :o

Covers are an easy way to get gigging. I currently play with a band mostly made up of people I work (or worked) with, and it started with a full set of covers (though some were obscure enough they almost might not have been). UK audiences at least seem easier to please if you're actually promising nothing new! ;) Anyway, we did a couple of gigs of all covers, then a gig with one original and started bleeding more in from there. Soon we had just one or two covers kept in the set for fun, but despite the band being, actually, pretty damn rough, we can still get gigs.
That said, while I think an occasional cover is fun, I much prefer doing originals. After all, it's much harder to tell that you've f*@&ed up an original. ;) I think of my main musical focus as being on composing and recording at home, and if I occasionally get to play out with one of my songs, then that's pretty cool. Small rockstar dreams are probably the easiest kind to handle :)

you live in australia where ther is plenty of land and so on.its not as dodgy as england as a general rule.i was over in cairns last summer and brisbane the summer before cos my sister lives in oz and thers a much more relaxed atmosphere.
so what im trying to say is if you think you want it,just get it.the spa i mean.if you dont you may realise later on that you wish you had got it.
changing the subject slightly my family are in the process of emigrating to oz.my bro is goin in september and i intent to follow a cuple of years later wen my visa stuff comes through
-
THE CAR!!!!!!!! GET THE CAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!! :aww:
-
Australia is the greatest place in the world!!! Everyone should move here, if you can stand our accents.. and all the bogans.. and the stifling heat.. no but really, it rocks! :D :D :D
And, jp, in answer to your question, it's not wrong at all to want a $17000 spa, it's only wrong if you buy it!
-
My mates moving back to Oz at the end of the month. He was a bricky over there for a while and loved it. Just over 18 months and I go over the trench to NZ. But I'll go to OZ for a holiday.
As for the spa, for that money you could join my gym for 7 years. But if your staying in the house, then it may well be worth it.

That money could just about buy your gym !!

Guitars = Chick magnet
Hot tub = Chick magnet
Guitar player with Hot tub = Naked chick party  8)

I have to admit, I don't actually know what a spa is...
So maybe $17,000 is a bargain?
-
Is it ?
a) a supermarket
b) one of those gizmos that you dip your tired feet in
c) a metallic supporting structure, eg on an aeroplane
d) none of the above
yes I know, I have taken liberties with the spelling
-
Hmmm, $17,000 doesn't sound like a good deal for any of those...
No really, what is it? A conservatory with a jacuzzi in it or something?
-

If the house was larger and Jp. had more money, it could look like this. ;)

Outdoor hot tubs are so good! Especially when it is freezing cold outside, apparently it is good when it snows too.

Thanks Peter! Certainly looks like something to impress the ladies...
...and God knows I need something to impress the ladies.
Maybe something a bit cheaper though?
-
MAN WHO RESURRECTED THIS THREAD OUT OF OBLIVION.......
wow what a trip down memory lane reading some of the posts from a year ago :!:
For the record I am still in the process of finnishing off the back yard in which the patio has to be built before the spa can even be considered any further.
The 180 SX never arrived.
As most of you are aware I had the kid and bought him a strat.
-
damn, id have spent $17k on a Ford Mustang and cruised round Oz.
;)
-
ha I bought a '59 Failane instead
(http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g244/19770509/Joels205920Ford20Fairlane.jpg) Kinda like this one but mine is gonna get lowered and a massive set of tyres

Work hard stick at your job and become a comission earner.
Wages will get you nowhere. If your a motivated hard working person..... there is nothing to fear from commission earning.

Work hard stick at your job
