Title: pickups for ibanez destroyer ?
Post by: dannyboy on January 09, 2006, 04:50:42 PM
Chaps and chapesses - i've got an old ibanez destroyer from which i removed all the old finish and taken right back to the wood (Korina i think) cos some idjit sprayed it cream ! I'd like to put in some BKPs, but nore sure which ones. I'm looking for a bluesy rock tone but capable of mellowing out or dirtying up as the need arises.
Crawlers perhaps ?

Despite the fact that I'm about to order some Crawlers, your description says "Mules" to me first.

Though for more solidly higher gain blues-rock, the Crawlers or Abraxases might be good bets.

Set neck or bolt? Not that it matters mind, I'm just into old Ibanez guitars and I'm curious! ;) I've got a 2619 and an IC200 (with Crawlers).

Your description of what you're after really does say Mules like carlaz says, maybe consider Emerald's as well?

I'm gonna fall in line here and say Mules...........for a slightly darker tone with more power the new Abraxas is very good too. Both will clean up well, have a  serious vintage tone and also dirty up nicely too.

I would go with calibrated Abraxas set.
