Is it an old one?

Still available now apparently.
SL3 Soloist
Japan
Seymour Duncan Hotrails Neck and Middle, JB TB4 Humbucker
Body,alder with flame maple veneer
Neck through body rock maple
Rosewood fingerboard
24 jumbo frets
JT580 LP Double Locking 2-Point Tremolo
Width at nut 1-11/16”
Case was extra from new (darn silly). Only thing I am reading is the tremolo is not as good as orig. FLoyd and the nut could be better.
Basically it lists (even at discount) at $1,090 at Musicians Enemy (well u know what I mean, their guitars are trashed normally lol).
Anyway, lot cheaper than I can get a USA Soloist. The USA one I am looking at is a 1991 white with Jackson p/u's that has been modded to active circuitry. And am probably looking at $800-850 to get it, if not more.
This Japan one does'nt look WAH!!!!!! But kinda like the understated looks.
Opinions please oh Knowledgeable ones :)

an understated Jackson? you mean there is such a thing!
the Floyd Rose II wasn't as good as the original. the only thing that really goes are the knife edges, and those pesky metal blocks that fall out when you change strings. the Schaller versions are regarded by many as better than the originals.

The US soloist will be a much better guitar. One of my pupils had the SL3 and one of the mounting posts moved forward, split the wood between the pickup cavity and the post!

Darn it LOL
So, stump up the extra and go for the USA SOlist huh?
PLEASE HJM, as you are being Sooooooooo helpful and seem to be VERY knowledgeable can you take a quick look at these for me and give me an opinion.
I PROMISE I will hold NOTHING against you, just am needing opinions from a better/more experienced person.

OK
well now found can get a Jackson PC3 for $480 (bout 280 pounds). Not read anything on harmony or elsewhere about the problem you mentioned HJM, think it was a one off/isolated? Or did the guitar not impress you at all in total anyway?
Other option is a Jackson SLSMG

Not as featured as PC3 but VERY light. One I tried yesterday and loved the neck.
Or even the Soloist mentioned earlier.
Yes, could look at a Fender but it's kinda like Ford vs. Chevy here. Just Do not get a Fender vibe. Of any it would probably be a tele.
Anyway, think $800 is about limit as will be moving etc. so really need every cent LOL. Ere indoors is not amused at idea as is LOL.
Why do I want another anyway?
Well, One to bring another good guitar back to UK (where they are so much more costly).
Two, not really liking taking my prize and joy Gibson out to practice/lessons all the time. Still too new/precious to me :)
Three, nice to have a diverse arsenal :)

Probably just bad luck for my pupil, don't worry too much, the rest of the build was better than most of the prestige Ibanez guitars I've played recently.
