Title: ickle NAD
Post by: juansolo on April 23, 2011, 05:22:45 PM
It's a 5w 6V6 MJW Goldstar with a solid state buffered loop. A bit cut down in that it doesn't have the extra gain stage (didn't want it). What I was after was a Fenderish, low volume amp for home only use. It's bloody marvellous and responds really well to pedals both in front and in the loop (v. important for me). Does exactly what I wanted it to do. I'm chuffed to bits with it.

Here's a pic from earlier when I carted it around to Cleggy's and we had a bit of a play with all the amps. It would have been rude not to.

Gives me an excuse to make some high gain pedals too as I'll be losing that when the Blackstar goes. The Shredmaster worked particularly well on the front of it for this. But I've ordered a few boards from Madbean, for a bit of variety ;)

The pedals are still an untidy mess, CBA to tidying them up today!

Great sounding amp!

whatever you do don't let cleggy intern with you for free while you're building those pedals ;)

LOL, he's a vital part of the process (I can't spray paint to save my life!).

Though he has made a couple of boards recently. He's been getting ideas! One of them works really well ;)

Cool looking amp but you're giving me GAS for one of Martins amps.

I think he's got the a Heritage in there at the moment (nice with the Goldstar but lacking in bottom end). The Laney has a Heritage and a Gold in it (fills in that bottom end nicely), the MJW has a Hot100 in it (mine, works really well as an allrounder), Recto has a Black Shadow in it (actually a lot like a more open Hot100).

The orange cab is actually my old one. It's a MIC job and it's shiteee. The lowest grade ply you can possibly imagine. Rattly horrible thing. I almost consigned it to the bin, but cleggy re-covered it, stuck a port in it and a bass driver. It sort of worked... Currently is somewhere to put the surplus heritage and, along with the crate (not shown) something to test pedals on when I'm over there.

They're all usually in different rooms over there, we just dragged them all together to dick around with them. As you do :) Probably why it all looks a bit wierd.

Nice amp. I love 6V6-tones.
