Well I bought the Tokai last night really nice guitar, neck almost the same as my Gibson so felt nice to play. Sounded quite nice through my new Blackstar but i'm probably going to fit some BKP's in the near future when funds allow, mainly bought this for a backup. Anyways here's a couple of pics.

Plaintops are awesome! Looks practically new! :)

Congrats, that really does look great! Nice burst and the top looks pretty darn good. In the words of Jim Bowen "What a lovely couple".

Great guitar. No frills, just plain, nice wood.

Its got a very tiny mark on it which you can hardly see but apart from that for a 9 year old guitar it doesnt seem to have seen much action and looks like its just come out of the factory.

congrats, looks great . i'd love to see a 'blind' test session done with the higher end tokai's and gibsons' by
by some top players.
a few years back a similar test was done with a few champagne's against some high end sparkling chardonnay's(which is what champagne is, except it's also grown in the region of champagne)
the so called expert tasters basically couldn't distinguish between them, it was almost 50;50 if i remember right.
nothing wrong with either, just like gibbo's and tokai's, but a £1500 tokai will be nearer £3000 if you want gibson
written on it.no brainer if your on a budget.

Keith that looks ace mate, glad you got it :)

It's true, but I still think £1,500 for "just" a Tokai is an awful lot of money, considering they're basically LP copies with no innovative/original design features of their own.
I say that as a Tokai fan, I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their more modestly priced MIJ models as Gibson alternatives. But I balk at £1,500 for a "copy", even though there's a Tokai '54 Goldtop model I'd love to buy if it was a few hundred quid cheaper.
But never mind all that, nice acquisition Keith! :)

Nice one Keith. Very classy.

Philly Q, i hear you and kind of agree but,... it costs over a grand to bring to market a proper 'gibson lp' with proper neck joint, one piece neck, body , binding etc
the point i'm making is if your interested in the 'guitar' and why it became legendry you copy the original spec. this is what gibson and tokai do and in fact it starts at £1200 for the tokai ls 150, i'm not exactly sure what price the gibbo's are made
to the original specs but understand the entry level les pauls don't even have the correct (and more tricky) long tenon neck joint.
'copy's' used to be cheap imitations, but that's not what i'm talking about.i don't care about' brands' in guitars, clothes or anything else.indeed a brand often becomes recognized because it's quality but then people forget why it became a 'brand'
which makes it easier for the commercial guys to cut corners.
