Title: What is this????
Post by: Dakine on January 10, 2006, 03:41:43 AM
OK,
basically bought this guitar. BUT, was having a "moment" and thought it was/is a SL3 Japanese Soloist. BUT it has two humbuckers, when a SL3 should have one humbucker and two single coils. So what the heck is it?

Heck, been looking at PC and guitars TOO long today.
Not a SL3 but an SL4. Rarer,no longer made with two buckers :)

For the price you can't go wrong. If the trem starts to play up you can always replace it with a OFR and still be ahead cost wise! I've not seen a SL4 in the flesh!

Hopefully will pick up today or tomorrow.
THANKS soooooooooooooooooooo much for advice HJM.
Just could'nt see how could go wrong for about 270 quid.
Top veneer dos'nt look so special but then again they are not well angled pics as the body is very contoured (on SL3's have seen).
Seymour Duncan p/u's JB in bridge and 59 in neck are'nt bad for start/that price either. On top of that comes with tweed hardcase.
Anyway,am pretty excited :)

Deal of the century. 270 quid for a 1st class neck-thru guitar with case. And it's a beauty too! Very nice flame top.

The Blue charvel was a Jap 2004 one with a very very nice ebony fretboard and 18v SD Live Wire Heavy Metal pickups, and nice trem. Sweet ass guitar.. from the US it cost me about £260 + tax!

heh thanks, i was VERY tempted with one like you have ordered, but for me the volume control is too close to the pickup and it messes my picking hand up... all those Charvel\Jacksons are sold now and i have my own axe made with the volume control in a better place :P

post up some clips when it arrives, the natural finish neck throughs are the sweetest looking guitars jackson do outside a custom order imo :)

we will see.
looks genuine in pics.
guy does ALOT of business and uses an ex. Charvel/Jackson tech. (who has set up own shop) to check out/set-up his guitars so hopefully will be "dawgs dangly bits" with no issues (Charvel/Jackson were all dealt with out of Dallas I believe).

Oh yeah
he has a PRS CE-24 (5 way selector switch) with small chip on lower edge which can get for about 490 pounds, a Godin A6 with Roland GR33 Synth and GK-21 for about 450 pounds, Ibanez RG Series 7 string strings through body (not whammy) for about 160 pounds with Ibanez hard case, and few other assorted goodies/oddments.
