Title: Price for a RG7620
Post by: Greatoliver on April 29, 2011, 05:29:59 PM
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of price an RG7620 should go for. I have found one for about £400, but it has a few dings and a chip in the body. The bridge is in good condition, and it comes with a case and shipping is included.

The problem is that I have no idea whether this is a really good price or not. Could anyone help me with this?

Thanks for your help,

Greatoliver

That's not too bad,  but keep in mind you can get a 7321 new for around the same price.  I don't know what (if any) case you'd get with the 7321 though, and it's got a fixed bridge instead of the FR.

That's true, I was really looking for an upgrade tho. I've got a S7320 already, and the RG7620 is meant to be on par with the prestige guitars on sale at the moment.

do you know what year it is?

I've never really played any 7s, but if you know what year it is i could check the old catalogues on the ibanez site, and with the spec etc. i'd have a rough idea of how much it might be worth, compared to the 6-string ibbies.

I think it's a 2000 RG7620GN.

That would be a great help :D

I bought mine for £450 with case and came with Duncan Blackouts installed. So £400 is a very good price.

Give it a good set up and they're fantastic playing guitars. Very easy and comfortable. Mine stays in tune pretty good too.

Ah ok, £400 is good then.

I've heard their meant to be great guitars... Their trem is meant to be one of the best, and the necks are meant to be great.

Yep that's right, I had a guitar that had an old Ibanez Universe neck (body was built by Feline Guitars) and the neck on the 7620 I think is exactly the same, I'm going by memory here so it may not be 100% accurate. The trem is nice and solid and the locking trem studs are a big plus, really improves tuning stability.

yeah it seems to be a 2000, it's in the 2000 catalogue anyway.

I thought £400 was probably a pretty decent price, but didn't want to say until I was sure.

Looks to be MIJ, so yeah, it should be of similar quality to the modern prestiges.

According to the catalogue it has dimarzios too.

Thanks Dave. Well, it was before the Prestige series existed, so it is meant to be goos quality :)

It has Dimarzio "New" 7 pickups... I don't really know much about them, but they'll go into my S7320 and my warpigs will go into this  :D

Thanks for all your help, you guys!

I have an RG 7 with a trem, not sure on the model but I did get it for £375 so relatively the price you're looking at is quite good.

yeah (regarding the prestige/pre-prestige thing). Good call on what to do with the dimarzios, too. :)

On par?!

Oh heck no. It's way, way better if you ask me. I've got myself, as well as a '00 S7420, and both guitars any new Ibanez out the water.

I picked up a used '99 7621 for £325 a couple of years ago, local pickup with softcase, a few dings but overall good condition. The price sounds fair.

Very nice guitar, well built, great neck (my one is without the stripe), and the stock pickups are actually pretty nice sounding. Fantastic workhorse.

A far better bet then a new 7321, no question at all.

This is a bit of a necrobump, but I wanted to say that I got the guitar!

Here are a few pictures - sorry for the massive size:

And the warpigs!:

Really happy with it, the neck is a great shape and has a nice skunk stripe  :) The guitar is quite bright, so it really compliments the WPs.

Thanks for all your help!  :D
