Hey guys, I've been looking to swap pickups, and a lot of places keep recommending me BKP, so I figure i'd sign up here and get all of your opinions. I'll make the description of what I'm looking for rather clear and straight forward!

the style of music I play is Death metal, and a lot of it's sub genres..
Bands like: Dismember, Carcass, Devourment, Gorgasm, Dying Fetus, Necrophagist, Nile, Defeated sanity.. all of that kind of stuff!
I want to get a really distorted sound, but without completely sacrificing clarity,

(sorry for all the links, I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for people to help me, I see some posts and they just aren't specific enough for people to help)
but yeah. anything that can change my muddy sounding stock pickups that come with this guitar would be appreciated. also- I do not like emgs, way to clean/sterile, so don't recommend me something that sounds really clean and digital :P

I´m gonna go with an Alnico Warpig for that crushing fat sound. The ceramic might be good too, but I think the Alnico would just go better with death metal.
That thing is brutal, dark and mighty mighty powerful, just fat heavy metal. Plus just look at the name: Warpig. Kinda deathmetally don´t ya think?^^

Yeah I was thinking warpig but I heard they don't sound as good in Basswood bodies..

I can't say I've tried a Warpig in Basswood myself but I can't see why they wouldn't work as basswood is quite a neutral wood so I'd have thought it would take to most things.

i have a ceramic warpig in a usa jackson sl2h (alder wings, maple neck and top, ebony fingerboard) and the tone is HUGE. perfect for the bands you mentioned. i have that sweep low end thump without sacrificing clarity. each note will jump out of the speaker.

thanks guys, I'm now torn between Alnico Warpig, and Ceramic!! I'll have to choose soon! which one would be better, As much as I like my tight low end sound, I do like some treble to it as well!

Also- what should I get for a neck pickup? to get a really clean smooth necrophagist (epitaph) sound for solos and stuff?

I run an Alnico Pig in a 7 and, while the specs are significantly different I would 50-50 on Alnico as, although it is quite a tight pickup, a ceramic bridge may suit better for that genre. The low end is huge, you need a seriously tight amp & rig to control it.
As a note I own a 7621 and am wondering what BKPs to put in it. I play sludgy/stoner/thrash so am not necessarily after the same level of tightness as you are. Cold Sweat set is tempting as I have that in a PRS and have heard that they sound great in the basswood RG, but the bridge is a bit brighter then you may want.
What's the rest of your rig like?

Right now it's just a Randall G2 75 watt (hahaha) but this summer I'm working and i'm gonna save up 2-3 thousand and get some good shite.

Hmm, Warpig on a 7-string will provice a lot of bass and the Pig has it. Could be a tad too much. Just have a look at the C-bomb and the Aftermath too.

I'd be tempted to start thinking about the rig first, then pickups to add the icing on the cake. The amp is going to have far more influence on your sound in this situation, as is the cab/speaker combo.
What works for your Randall may not be the best for your new rig.
Personal example: I used to use a Mesa Dual Recto. I would never have chosen Alnico Warpigs for any guitar, let alone a 7 string, with this amp as it would have pushed the bass all over the place. Conversely the Miracle Man kept the Dual Recto's "Modern" mode nicely tight. I sold that and picked up an amp that's much tighter and more 'very hot-rodded Marshall' in vibe, the Warpigs add fatness to the sound and some extra dirt because they're so powerful.
The choice you make now might work, but I'd hang on if I were you.

Anyway, amps... hmmm, Peavy 5150/6505 is good in that situation and are pretty cheap (plust Ceramic Warpig into an amp like this is insanely aggressive), Nile use Marshall JCM2000, VHT/Fryette are ubertight. You're going to have fun.

I made some br00tal death metal a few years back.
The guitar is a Rg7321 tuned to G#. The pickup is a Alnico Warpig.

You can get a bloody good amp for considerably less that 2-3 thousand, especially if you go used. Ebay is full of them.

what a quick topic change! alright guys! help me out! gimme a good head+cab to go with. I really wanna start making music and jamming with friends and I need to know what to get!

Well, on Ebay, the Marshall JVM410H regularly goes for around the £600 mark and on Ebay at the moment I can see a Peavey 6505 for the same price. There's also an Engle Ritchie Blackmore model there for £850 and few Blackstar Series one amps for a similar price. If you want to push the boat out more I can see a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier available for £1,450. Yesterday I saw an Engle Screamer go for just £350.
If you want to look at new amps, the Blackstar HT Stage 100 is £600; the Jet City JCA100H is a very similar price, a Bugera 333XL is just £429 and Laney are launching the new Ironheart amps in the summer to replace the old TT range and they should be very reasonably priced.
I'd say that all of these are really good amps and don't break the bank. As for a cabinet, I bought my Marshall 1960A 4X12 in excellent condition for just £200.
