Ok basically I'm looking at getting Aftermaths for my guitar, but has anyone else heard on 99% of peoples home recordings using that pickup, it has a sort of squishy sound when people play palm mutes. I know I'm not imagining it because I've heard it on many recordings, but its almost like for a fraction of a secong theres a very high pitch noise coming out of the palm mutes kinda like a squished sponge. I just wanted to know if anyone else is hearing this?

are these recordings all done with guitars with trems? if so it will be the springs ringing these can easily be dampened to stop this.
I never noticed any such issues with my aftermath
also are they all done with modellers? as modellers all have odd high frequency artifacts which is the reason i dislike them so much

That's a good point. I'll be fitting it in a Les Paul and a play a Bugera 333 with JJ tubes. But just have a listen to people's recording, they do seem to have a squelching sound in the palm mutes

Hmm could you show me the recordings in particular?
this is the only recording i really have of my short time with the AM

VHT pitbull CL. Dunno if you've already decided what youre hearing is in there or not; its in players somewhere.

I read it's quite scratchy when picked, I don't know if this has something to do with it.

Them 2 recordings sound normal in my opinion. None of what I was talking about. To name one recording would be the MP3 in this link http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=24435.0;topicseen. I'm not moaning about the playing. It' sjust the palm mutes are giving off a squishy sound.

I think what you are hearing there is a combination of the recording equipment.
Amp EQ & the pick attack that the aftermath has that the amount of gain in this clip is really amplifying

Aftermath? Squishy?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

WOW DUDE! In my other post about Aftermath vs Seymour Duncan Distortion, I said that I hope the Aftermath is what I'm looking for, like an SD sh6 but with more fuller mids without lossing the pickattack chunk I like from the Scott Ian tone, and your soundclip is the first time I've heard someone play a Thrash Metal type riff (as opposed the gay 'Justin Beiber hardcore/Metalcore', which freakin hate as a Thrasher) with the aftermath, and dude...sounds like I'm gonna like the Aftermath!!!!

The aftermath is an absolutely brilliant pickup for this sort of stuff and is also a lot more versatile than people would expect. i was pleasantly surprised with it.
The only reason i got rid of it was because i didn't feel it was the right pickup for the guitar. Now however i am regretting it and thinking of back tracking somewhat :P
