Ive been wanting some hot pickups for playing metal on a tele, this seems to be the only guitar without a 21k ridiculous option, its not routed for hbs and i want it to look like standard
-
Piledrivers, have a listen to the clips...

Ive tried a guitar with those in, but I want basicly a warpig in a single, like the sinner for strat, will bkp do rewinds to 20k?

Yep, Tim has told me in the past that a tele coil could get the same wind as a 'Pig 90.
-
Any idea how would that sound compared to actual warpigs?
-
Well, it's not comparable to a humbucker since it's a single-coil. It will however be very powerful and fat sounding due to the large baseplate on a tele bridge unit. Considering the Piledriver is definitely more than capable of metal, a 21k wind should be more or less apocalypse inducing.

Well thanks for the replies, (my first time on here), do bkp do rwrp sets? id imagine the hum would be pretty bad on such a hot pickup? and would a series middle setting just be overkill
-
Yep, all the Tele sets are available stock or with a RWRP neck pickup. And you can have a separate ground wire on the neck cover for use with a 4-way switch (even if it is overkill!).
-
sounds good, would I have to order a tele pickup off here and then pay to have it rewound or could it be ordered as one custom item
-
I'm sure you could order it as a custom wind - but don't use the web shop, phone up and talk it through so you can get exactly what you want and BKP can advise on any potential problems.
-
Ok thanks for all the replies, very helpful and friendly forum

And then I found this thread....
Bloody telecasters :(

Just to note that Tim doesn't recommend RWRP and 4-way Tele mod on the same set.
the 4 way Tele mod - RWRP neck option isn't suitable for this(the series tone gets far too bottom heavy and loses clarity)so stock neck is the correct option

That's interesting - even though it would give you a "big humbucker" in series mode?
-
Just to clarify, two 20k singles in series would effectively be a 40k humbucker right?, and I always thought that RWRP didn't make any difference to the tone
