Title: Wiring troubles with Tele
Post by: Simon_86 on May 10, 2011, 12:58:30 PM
Hi there,

I'm a first time poster on the forum but have been lurking for a little while.  I thought I'd sign up as I've found myself in a bit of trouble with some wiring.

I recently bought a new Boss set bridge pickup for my Telecaster to go with the Mississippi Queen P90 I have in the neck position.  Last night I wired in the bridge all good and proper but when I came to try out the middle position I was getting a very hollow tone from the pickups(or 'quacky' as some people like to describe it) so I'm figuring that the pickups are out of phase.  I reversed the wires on the bridge pickup so that they were going to the opposite solder points as I'd read somewhere that doing this can remedy the problem.  I found that it just cancelled out the bridge pup altogether! :?

So.....  I am wondering whether it is worth trying the same method with the P90?  by reversing the wires? Could this work?

I know some people like the out of phase sound you can get but it's really not to my tastes.

It might be worth noting that I have it wired with a 4-way switch.  I also have a ground wire going from the volume pot to the back of the bridge plate(I had to do this as the last pickup I had was pretty noisy!)

Any help would be great!
Thanks!
