Hey guys. I'm selling my JCM900 and would like to know how you guys have shipped your heads? how did you pack them? how much roughly would it cost to ship? what company did you use?
-
Ģ25 with parcelforce 48 i think, possibley it was 24, cant exactly remember. I recently bought an amp head so i used that box and packaging. Stuffed some bubble wrap in as well just to make sure everything was tight and had a large amount of padding. I would say go to your local guitar shop and ask if they have any boxes lying around.

Mine was posted to me (can't remember how much exactly), but they used loads of bubble wrap (with the large bubbles) and marked it as fragile.

Imo you should take out the valves and put them in a safe padded envelope so they wont bounce around aswell..
my engl head cost Ģ22 by omga 24hrs and it was big and reaaaaaaaaaally heavy (in sound and weight lol..)

Thanks guys, its appreciated.
By the way, how does your Fireball sound compared to the old JCM800 you had?
I'm thinking about getting a Fireball but i haven't heard what the lead tone sounds like?
-
well.. the JCM800 sounded good when boosted by my SD-1, but to be honest it was a little bright and too classicy sounding for the way my tastes have developed...
My fireball developed a fault (apparently a very rare occurrence.. hence so much hassle getting the shop to take it in to swap :E), so when i get the new one i will do some clips..
assuming mine sounded like it should before it went weird, the Fireball is one of the tightest, most brutal things i've ever heard, really thick and tasty sounding. The lead sound was very good, but to be honest its pretty simple channel wise so ideally you would need an extra pedal\the engl pedal to have a vol boost for solos, and perhaps a delay.
Couple of fireball lead clips on here:
