Title: BDs KICK ASS!!
Post by: ventura on June 26, 2011, 05:48:25 AM
Just had these installed in my 68 LPC "Firemist" this past weekend...  Was a bit taken aback at first, the bridge was WAY quieter than the neck.  But after fiddlin' around with it, realized the bridge pup just needed to be raised a bit more - and the reason the tech left it like this was probably to keep a clean sound from it, cuz it's a potent pup in the bridge position!!

Anyway, been playing almost all day with the new pups through my 20thA XTC, and it sounds SO awesome - neck, bridge, middle position - so nice!!  Cleans are really fab, the neck is rich and colorful, very thick and pronounced; the bridge is biting and crisp, and now that the outputs are matched, they worked beautifully well in unison. In a crunchy style, the tone of the BDs really shine through, and most certainly on the RED channel of the XTC, these kill.  Are they "Page in a pup"??  No, but conjuring the 'standard fare' tones of Whole Lotta and Heartbreaker are as easy as pie to do now.  Are they pretty awesome overall?  Absolutely.

Great pick Tim, love 'em!!  Thanks!!

Stay tuned for some clips, and my update of the MMs that got installed in my ESP Horizon this past weekend as well (been too busy playing the Lester to even pick the ESP up LOL).  Emeralds up next into my '57 triple pup Black Beauty, stay tuned  8)
