some of you may remember this yamaha RGXA2 i modded. i sold it off a few months ago , but the jack socket went a bit faulty so i was in discussions about sorting it out when the guy that brought it said he quite fancied having a midi pad putting in it at the same time
so here we are, still need to do some more routing on the back of the body for the new control layout and a double battery box, but this gives an idea of how it will all fit together.

the frame is quite a bit oversize, so will need trimming back around the bridge and pickup selector, but the screen fits in the available space, just! it sits about 1mm below the bridge base plate.
The first control is volume with n-tune onboard tuner.
Followed by the program/channel selector for the pad, turn it for program, push it for MIDI channel.
Then a 6-way toggle for neck/both/bridge in either hum or single mode
The second toggle is a on/off switch for the midi which was an extra in the kit, normally its on if plugged in :?
Finally there is the hold button to continuously send the same MIDI message
the touch screen has not been butchered from a kaoss pad like a lot you see on youtube, leaving you with a screen that only controls the korg device... it is a separate midi controller that can theoretically control any midi device
the kit came from these guys in poland and i am impressed by the simpleness of it all

ok, it involves some fairly extensive routing, but the actual wiring is very nicely done and clearly labelled
only problem is, i wont have anything to test it with when done :(

thats the problem i had when iv done them before. luckily i knew someone with a whammy so i was ok on that side of things, but still didnt know when it came to anything else. luckily when the guy got it in canada it worked with his kaoss pad. phew!
that kit looks pretty good. pretty much the same as the ones i got from a guy in wales

Very cool! I think Lew! would appreciate something like that, judging by his clips with that Daemoness. Perhaps you can pick up a cheap midi to USB cable, download a free VST synthesizer or something and test like that?

good idea, for £4 i may as well give it a go

:D Actually getting to use it may end up costing more in the end. I'd be sticking one on my coffee table, the fridge, the dog and I'd go back on my self-made promise to not ever purchase one of those hats with the tubes that you drink two beers out of and epoxy one to that. Half synth half beer slurp duets are classy.

how much did these cost wez, and what pickups in that yamaha.Tv's
-
i didnt order it , the owner did... but the auction was about 500PLN, which is about £110
the pickups are the original yamaha ones, tbh i think they are fine, a bit generic but split nicely for some versatility. It was a black rgxa2, not a white one. i did have it wired for splits and phase, but quite happy to lose the phase options for the touchpad

That seems like a real interesting project, wez. Please keep us all updated and I would just love to hear a sample or watch a video when it's finished.
