This is pretty punk, innit?

So, basically this is a swamp ash Tele Deluxe from Warmoth, with a counterfeit (or MIJ, I dunno) Fender Strat neck that I found in a bin. The pickup is of course the very lovely Alnico War Pig. I love this thing to death, to put it mildly.

I would love it with a different scratchplate.  :(

I wouldn't be "brave" enough to use a completely unfinished body like that, and I hate seeing gaffer tape on a guitar (I'm just too.... fussy, I suppose!)

But I like the basic concept.

The body is *slightly* finished. I did use some floor oil on it  :P

Yeah, very nice.

Is it a "brutal" guitar?  How versatile is a WP in a single pup guitar?  Can it "crunch" as well as "djent", of you know what I mean?

If this guitar ever "djents" it will be over my dead body.

That said, the WP cleans up very nicely indeed, but of course it's main strength is that signature roar it has. The stuff I play currently is more of a "wall of sound" thing than the staccato stuff normally found in modern metal, and it does that extremely well!

Cool and functional... I like it. It reminds me of my own super T with the natural body an the cool wood grain. Nice one.

Yeah, I like it too. Mostly because you saved that poor neck from destruction, but it does look pretty sweet. I'd dirty that thing up for another year and then rub a few coats of Tru-oil or Danish Oil on it to lock in the funk and protect the wood.

That's actually a damned good idea! I'm gonna have to steal it.

Steal away, dude! I hope it works out for your "bin-tage" guitar. awwww. That was bad. Really shouldn't hit the post button. Oh well.

I hate how the Gaffa tape glue makes everything sticky. Tape = Uncool. Rest = Cool!

That was actually the whole idea of it, yeah. I originally intended it as some sort of beater/backup guitar, for my band Hexis, but incidentally it ended up becoming my main squeeze after I'd gotten the neck properly adjusted

Pwned!

I actually like the look of that one.  But is it all gunky and sticky, or is there some kind of clear finish over the top?

I remember that one. It's the Offspring guitarist's sig model yeah? I didn't think it was actual tape, but a screen print or something like that. Might be real tape and finished over, but I don't know how well that would go.

Speaking of neat textures on guitars. Newspaper with a poly coat on top.  :D

Seriously thick coating of lacquer. It's faired better than the other one I have, that was starting to look a bit scruffy and was peeling in places. That one got stripped and oiled.

Yup that's the puppy and it is indeed real tape stuck to the body, then sprayed over with paint, wiped off, then lacquered. It's an absolute bitch to get off. Great playing thing, but lousy electronics and tuners. I replaced all them and now they're brilliant. Not the most resonant things ever, but great very cheap fun.
