Title: Which humbucker sized p90 for my SG?
Post by: cross on July 10, 2011, 06:43:50 PM
Heythere,

check my other post.

I'm going to switch my Crawler set in my SG (wornd brown, ebony board).

I really like heavier proggy classic rock based music. See- Mastodon.

As 'im goin to get an LP build I want to change pickups in my SG.

The neck should be an antiquity SD mini bucker, love the vibe. The bridge should be equipped with some hotter p90 sound.

I was wondering if the stockholm might be too heavy? The sound clips didn't really show me that gritty p90 sound. But for going heavy it might be just perfect. 10-12Ohms might be alright^^
I'm not sure if I need to go for the stockholm or rather sacrifize the possible hum for a humbucker straight away.

The crawler set though has the same Ohm-difference like the SD and the Stockholm. I'm looking for an angrier, tighter sound than the Crawlers deliver...

Any suggestions?

The Stockholm has quite some mids, but still  - at least what I hear - P90-vibe and singlenoteclarity. Of course the MQ is way more vintagesounding, but heard clips with great crunch too. But I think you want the Stockholm.
